We had the good fortune of connecting with Lo DeRamus and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lo, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
LesLo Events is a team of sisters, originally from Dallas, Texas. Growing up, some of our fondest memories were when family and friends gathered for special occasions – birthdays, weddings, and holidays. This upbringing directly contributed to us ultimately founding our business as we both naturally gravitated to event-related work in our respective careers sparked by that love – for family, celebration, and coming together.

Not surprisingly, it was those things that ultimately ended up being the catapult for our business, as we collaborated to coordinate a graduation party for our little sister. The rest was history.

What should our readers know about your business?
LesLo Events is a luxury event planning & design studio based in Atlanta, Georgia. Our mission is to curate unforgettable event experiences that exceed our client’s dreams. We leverage innovative, creative design and concierge-level service to execute distinctive, memorable celebrations.

Our team is the most unique thing about our business. As millennial African American women, we represent a small minority of business owners in the space. We’re disrupters – and our leadership duo brings a breadth and depth of personal and professional experience that positions us to service a broad range of clients and their needs – everything from marketing and creative design to expert logistical support.

I’m sure most first-time business owners can relate to the challenges that come with entrepreneurship. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all handbook, so many lessons are learned on the fly or after a failure.

This work can definitely be physically and mentally exhausting; So, the biggest struggle has been maintaining mental fortitude as we’ve struggled to find our footing, establish brand credibility, and to stay in the race after many, many late nights, blood, sweat, and tears.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
EASY! Here are some of our faves that we love to recommend when people are visiting:

1. Hotel: While we LOVE to host, we’re also privy to some fantastic hotels in the area. We’d pick our bestie up from the airport and head to check in at the Bellyard.

Once they’ve dropped their bags – we’d head down to the Lobby Bar for a happy hour cocktail and catch some views of the city.

2. Dinner: For dinner – we’d most likely start with one of our faves – Yebo! You can’t beat their salad and their frozen espresso martini!

3. Late-Night: After dinner, we’d head over to Hotel Midtown for some more cocktails and hopefully catch the last night DJ!

4. Breakfast: The next morning – we’d head to Ms. Icey’s Kitchen and Bar for a fantastic Brunch then maybe spend some time walking the beltline and grab lunch at Bar Vegan!

5. Dinner: For the final dinner we’d have to show our hometown some love and hit Superica for some Tex-Mex!

6. Depending on the night, we could catch an evening concert at City Winery after dinner and toast to friendship and sometime well-spent in ATL.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Our tribe! We’re so blessed to have a network of family, friends, and colleagues who pour into us and our business in so many ways! Whether it’s pulling up to help with event setup, reposting/sharing our work, referring us to new clientele, or just being available for late-night phone calls when things get a bit stressful.

This list isn’t comprehensive but reflects a sample of our stakeholders that contribute in one way or another, to the work we do each day: Russell Wendell, Bria Anderson, Meagan Bryant, Amanda Sabreah, Lerrick McCorvey, Lyndsey DeRamus, Larry DeRamus & Menda Donaldson-DeRamus, Vernetta DeRamus, Tran Nguyen, Alex Sanabria, Jazzmine Smith, Meagan and Jasmyn Gordon, Leneille Moon, and the list goes on and on! We adore all of you.
