We had the good fortune of connecting with Liz Savage Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liz, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk has become a closer friend of mine in the past few years and especially in 2020. This past year specifically I’ve made some of the riskiest moves of my life. I’ve been purposely trying to integrate risk into my life more and more in recent years and it has changed my life for the better! It’s actually not the people who risk and fail the least that are successful but those who are willing to risk and fail the most.

There are 5 major risks I’ve taken in the past few years that have played a major role in the design of my life.

1. Leaving a stable job for a really risky position in a startup. It was less pay, no benefits, no security. But it gave me the skills and confidence to do what I do now. It’s why I understand what’s needed to start a business.

2. I had a COVID wedding! Lots of family was disappointed but when we cancelled our wedding, we threw together a mini wedding in 48 hours and it was the perfect way to go into quarantine with the love of my life.

3. When God talks, I try to listen. I had a major God moment and knew I needed to leave that awesome startup. I had no clue what was next but I knew it would be good, and it is.

4. Once I realized I absolutely loved helping other women with all their business questions it was all over! Or beginning I guess. I decided that if I can help more women start businesses that are set up for success then I would do everything I could to make it happen. Female led businesses are the future and I want to make sure more of them survive start up so they can get their magic out into the world.

5. My most recent risk? I moved to Puerto Rico! I had never been before but my husband had. Our lease was ending and with no pets, kids, or mortgage we decided it was time for an adventure after a year inside. We’ll be coming back to our Georgia home sometime this year but for now we’re enjoying the ocean.

What should our readers know about your business?
I founded Fruitful Foundations because I genuinely believe that businesses with female founders will play an incredible role in our future and I want to be a part of that. We’ve all seen the varying statistics about how many businesses fail in the 1st, 5th, or 10th year. I’ve seen it first hand! Starting a company and starting it well are difficult to do on your own. There are so many women with amazing ideas that could help so many people, but they’re not going anywhere because they don’t know how to start a business. They’re either too scared to try or try and fail due to misinformation. That’s why I started Fruitful Foundations, it takes away the need for you to Google every other word a ‘guru’ uses in their $997 course. Instead of trying to figure it all out alone, I’m there as a friend guiding you around the common pitfalls, taking you the shortcuts no one mentions, and making sure you you create a fruitful foundation so that when you launch you can do so confidently and with joy.

I think that’s why Fruitful is different. I’m not here to serve 100,000 people, I’m here to help you as a friend. My clients have my personal number, we have a genuine relationship and I tell them exactly how it is even when it’s hard to hear. I’ve seen all the courses that leaving you feeling like you’ve learned nothing and have nothing and so I purposely was really hard on myself about my program. If I’m coaching you then you have a full workbook that’s not just a slidedeck from a presentation. It’s a real guide full of advice, examples, diagrams and homework. Every meeting I assign custom homework that I know is your next step, and then I follow up and make sure you’re getting it right! I give all my clients custom spreadsheets that they need in order to do the things I’m telling them to. I’m not going to tell you to create a sheet of wholesale clients without giving you that sheet and teaching you how to make one on your own next time. I research along with my clients so they can learn and I can make sure they have all the info they need. I charge my worth for my program because I know as much as I’m teaching you I’m also working alongside you to get your dream business launched. Also, I send my new clients a welcome basket that includes Chick-fil-A, so I’ll leave it at that, haha.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So y’all know I’m a coffee girl and so I would definitely do an all day coffee tour and if ya can’t hang after 10 shots of espresso, I don’t know what to tell you, haha! I’m going to squeeze all my rec.s into a 16 hour day for fun!

I’d start with breakfast at West Egg!

So 10 places to get amazing coffee in Atlanta:
1. Octane Coffee Bar, get the Americola or turmeric tea
2. Chrome Yellow, Vanilla Bourbon Latte
3. Dancing Goats @ Ponce, Cortado
4. Chattahoochee Coffee Co. , Espresso
5. Condesa Coffee, Latte
6. Three Hearts Roastery, Espresso
7. Brash Coffee Roasters (Howell Mill shipping container), anything!
8.East Pole Coffee Co., Cappucino
9. Amélie’s French Bakery & Café Atlanta, Latte
10. Honorable mention to Brother Moto who is no longer open but will always be an ATL favorite

After all that espresso go look at weird art at the High Museum of Art! Then maybe Antico’s for the most amazing pizza. We can work off all that coffee and pizza by renting bikes on the Belt Line to go shopping at Ponce City Market. To get ready for the night we’d get fish bowls at The Nook and then on to Le Fat for amazing Vietnamese dinner. Afterwards we’d listen to live Jazz with a drink at Red Light Cafe. We could walk over to Loca Luna for some dancing and then end the night at Ormsby’s playing games! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Throughout my journey of leaving my job, working on myself and then launching Fruitful my friend Rachel has been there supporting me the entire time. She even volunteered to be my beta tester! She actually just launched her company Dirty Peach Skin! It’s absolutely amazing and I honestly see her forging a new path for skincare and women’s health. She formulates beautiful products that are not only hormone conscious but fertility safe. There has been a wave of women realizing how much hormones effect every part of their health and what you put on your skin is a huge part of that. If you’re looking to clean up your skin care for the environment, improve your health, to have a baby, or simply to support a female small business then you should definitely look her up!
