We had the good fortune of connecting with Leigh Marshall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leigh, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Growing up in a home, where giving back was a key focus, partnered with my healthcare-related experiences, both made it easy to understand the plan God has for my life. After attending a business seminar I realized I shouldn’t be afraid of anything and just move forward. I sat down and started to write all the ways I could help another person find a way to achieve their version of healthy.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Like so many, I got tired of hearing I can’t, I don’t have the time, resources, finances, know-how, or the support to get healthy. As a wife, parent, full-time student, full-time employee, and active member of the church I understood what the want vs the reality looked like. Lucky for me the drive that my grandmother instilled in me allowed me to take control and find how to improve the way I change the movement and nutrition of not only myself but my family. As a nutritionist and health coach, it is important to understand each client I work with. Having conversations and understanding your need to find “Your version of healthy” is what I focus on. Are you mentally ready to make a change and work towards creating a game plan the best suits you and your needs? If so this is how success is accomplished.
As the creator of Juice the Rainbow I focus on the same goals but with a twist. (focus, compassion, conversations commitment, and follow-through” (FCCCF) Cleansing with Juice the rainbow is a mental lifestyle change, that most can’t do on their own. With JTR we walk our clients through our juice fast with daily conversations, and motivation. Stripping your body of the old and slowly introducing your body and mind with positive nutrition and habits.
I realized quickly that everyone is not ready for the work that is necessary to create healthy changes. An understanding that all clients are not for me was a challenge. But, along with that lesson I also realized that having a team of people that believe in health, support me and push me to work towards my dream of helping others achieve their version of health is key, and I can’t do it all alone.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A native of New York, where a city never sleeps, and a personal chef I always look for the best food in the city and lounge spots. Although a chain, my personal favorite spot outside of my very own A Spoonful of Health Café which is located inside of House of Fitness Gym. Located in front of Lenox mall, is True Foods is a wonderful farm-to-table, luxurious, clean, calm spot. you have the ability to eat inside or in their open and airy dining area. The staff is always helpful, polite, and have a refreshing attitude about working for the company. The food is always tasty out in no time, and just enough. I think the best part is being next to one of America’s well-known, shopping malls, across from some of the best spots to rest your head and some of the best cigar bars or lounges in the city.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank my children for the continued understanding, support, love, and help they have given me, while I work towards a positive generational change for our future.
