We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lauren, how do you think about risk?
My life is all about risk. I take them, I make them and I learn and grow from them. I believe we take risk every day, Everyday something is either not taking the risk for or taking the risk for. It’s even a risk waking up everyday and being Black in America.

Taking risk has played a major role in my life and career. As of recently, I’ve taken the risk to jumpstart life in another state. From living in New Jersey all my life, to starting fresh on the sunny side of Florida. I came into this new move understanding all the risk and also the risk of what I was leaving back home.

Personally, I feel as though my whole career is a big risk. I’ve started things that other people may have not thought of or never done, especially where I am from.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a multifaceted creative. I am an artist that wears many hats. From starting out as a model, to a stylist, then a blogger, to creating my very own creative/model agency. Putting me in a box is just not possible. As of recently, I’ve dedicated the focused on solely focusing on my Creative/ Model Agency called LADH Agency. LADH Agency is a creative/ modeling agency that is anAgency for the Arts that represents all creative, artistic abilities.Whether you are a Model, Photographer, Makeup Artist, Creative Director or just a creative individual, we are here to help build and elevate your craft that best represents you. LADH is dedicated to creating a platform that represents the expressions of the creative mind through photography, modeling, style and creative direction. LADH offers an abundance of services, opportunities and connections. From Model Training, Photoshoots, Paid and Networking Opportunities. LADH is the Agency you want to represent you ! We are the Agency that represents YOU !

What sets us apart from others is that although we work with all types of creative, we are big on working along side many other black creatives and creating art that represents us in the best light. What I am proud and most excited about is connecting with creatives from all over. From state to state, from different cultures and different walks of life and seeing people bring ideas together create their art.

I got to where I am professionally by taking a chance on an idea and growing and learning from it along the way. NO, it was not easy at all. I went from managing one model, too managing and signing 3 models, to finding my business partner, Marissa Banks and going through trial and tribulations through it all. I fell flat on my face learning how this industry works for you as well as against you. I’ve spent money I didn’t even have and have failed before to know what I need to do to move forward. I over came challenges and still over coming challenges by making sure the focus, the purpose and why for starting everything in the first place is still in front of me. I’ve challenge myself to take myself out my environment and mindset that I was used to build character, absorb new knowledge and find unique experiences and things that inspire me.

One major lesson I’ve learned along the way is that being a creative is all fine and dandy but you need to make sure that you are handling the business side to everything you create. You are responsible for your own business and it needs to be a priority especially when you are making a profit of your art. Protecting yourself and your ideas are important because people aren’t are genuine as you and will use you their own benefit.

What I want people to know about my brand and my story is that I’m never giving up, no matter what’s thrown my way. There are rooms and places for people like myself and I will be apart of those rooms or will work my ass off creating those rooms for myself and others just like me. In a world filled of copy cats, I will remain original and always CREATE!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Personally speaking, I haven’t experienced Atlanta enough to give someone the best time ever. I have friends that stay in ATL that are always showing me the dopest spots in the city and I will be visiting them soon to check them out. I’m also excited to tap in with the creative scene in ATL, because I know for a fact they are going crazy and I already know some people I would like to work with.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Recognizing the success and where I am in life today is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others, I would love to dedicate this shoutout to all of my supporters, my friends and of course my family. As cliche as this may sound, my supporters are the reason why I haven’t given up on myself and refuse to give up for the motivation they continue to instill in me. Having an audience that truly allows to me to be my true self and appreciates my creative contributions to society really makes everything I do worth it. They are there when I mess up, when I over come milestones and trust my process. Trusting the process is an extremely hard to do, especially when you are the one going through the process.I also want to dedicate this feature to my friends. They keep me on my toes, they are constantly challenge me to go harder. They get on me when I’m not pushing myself to best of my ability sand always reminding me to remind myself who the heck I am. They keep me inspired when the world can get repetitive. They are a listening ear and a shoulder to cry 0n and some cases the fire underneath me to get my shit together. I want to dedicate this feature to my family for building such an amazing foundation for me. For always keeping me grounded and giving me a piece of mind. They have always supported any idea and will go to any mile to make sure I am getting all the information I need to achieve all that I want. I want to thank them as well for always being real with me no matter how harsh it may come off or how far in dream land I may go. They are truly here for the benefit of my growth and not my turmoil.

I also want to dedicate this feature to myself, to finally give myself the credit I truly deserve and to remind myself this is only beginning. I am exactly who I need to be to be where I want to be. Everything I’ve been through is exactly what I needed to get through so I can receive all things that are made for me.
