We had the good fortune of connecting with Kxng Blanco and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kxng, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I’d say I have a few key factors behind my success honestly. The first one I would say is the fear of failure, I’m from a city where a lot of people have been at the door when it came to success with this music junk but it was some people who kilt their careers from having a small town mindset. My second factor to my success is my authenticity, like my fans and supports see the hunger behind every verse, video, and performance I do, they see I’m not putting on a front for likes and support it’s some shit they can really feel. The third factor to my success is God, it’s been times opportunities have just fallen in my lap for me to capitalize and rise and I can’t give that credit to no one but the man upstairs.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It be hard for me to answer this question when it comes to what sets me apart because I don’t really look at other artist and try to separate my greatness from theirs, I will say though i feel like I’m ahead of my time, I’m doing this with the sole purpose of being the best and that causes a level of intensity you almost have to be born with. I know I’ll take leaps some people won’t take because of the fear of the unknown so that might be what sets me apart. I honestly couldn’t tell you the exact steps to take to get where I am career wise, I guess I was a breath of fresh air to my city. Don’t get me wrong I did a lot of free shows/features with nothing in return just to show my worth and pay my dues so that might’ve played apart also. I feel like my tunnel vision prevents me from basking in my accolades, people around me have to remind me of some of the big things I’ve done like without google I wouldn’t remember that I’m 2x Flagpole Music Award Nomination, 2x Athens Hip Hop Award Winner, SlabCypher Album of the Year Award for his 2019 project “SkeeYee!” Read Poster Inductee for Athens Public Library, Vic Chesnutt Songwriter Nominee, Youngest Headliner in Popfest History, and so much more because I’m focused on the next accolade. I’m not gone lie I still struggle with getting that full embrace from my city, like I’m getting more love out of Atlanta then Athens and it ain’t even close but I don’t think on that too much I know I’ll just run myself in the ground if I do. I’ve learned to be firm in your decisions when it comes to the business side of things, I started young and got ran over because of my lack of knowledge and age so I realized being about your money in an industry full of greedies is detrimental to the success of your career! I want the world to know im here…when the Drakes,Kendricks, and Coles fall back into legendary status I’m next up to hold the torch and if you don’t know me now you will. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shoutout my team “GA Pro Entertainment” for being behind me during my growth from the soundcloud days all the way up until now! I also would like to shoutout Montu and the rest of my management squad over at “ALE”, it’s been a handful of people just behind me since I stepped on the scene in Athens (2017) a prime example is the whole Volumes Hip Hop squad who covered my journey via blogs, interviews, and shows. Then there’s videographers/photographers who went out their way to show they was really rocking with me like Shai, Scotty, Goodie, Alexis Saldana, Farjana, Brandon Bryant, and Charlie. (I might’ve missed a name or 2) Last but not least I want to thank every single fan of mines man, this Wavy Mob shit run deep so I appreciate y’all for keeping the wave strong!
