We had the good fortune of connecting with Kiera Coleman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kiera, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking played a major part in my life! There were times when I didn’t believe I could achieve success in life because of obstacles that were in the way. Whether it was family, life, death, everyday struggles, and just trying to keep a roof over my head. I just felt like the success I wanted in life would never happen until I realized it was all in my head. I realized that if I thought positively and was grateful for what I already had- more will come to me. As long as I put in the time and effort, trusted the process, and was patient, everything would eventually fall into place. Sometimes you may have to risk time, money, spending time with family or friends, or just doing something you don’t want to do temporarily to help you get to where you want to be. Everything thing in life is a risk! You just have to go for what you want.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Starting a youtube channel was the scariest thing in my life. I was actually very shy growing up, but I was very talented and was afraid to express myself because I always worried what others would think of me. It wasn’t until I had a passion to pursue acting at a turning point in my fashion career. I worked at Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch, Christian Dior, and more. I lot of the work was contract, but I’ve learned and accomplished a lot in the fashion industry. When I was forced to move back to Atlanta-after taking some acting classes- I wasn’t able to fully break into the industry because of family dynamics. I always put family first over everything. After loosing my dad, I just went all in and just started putting myself out there. Recording videos for fun, vlogging, doing fashion hauls, and taking pictures. I loved the feeling of being in front of the camera. I was confident, I felt sexy, I felt free, and I eventually broke out of my shyness, and best of all, I could be myself. In fact, I could be who ever I wanted to be. I didn’t have to face reality, I could create a whole world for myself online. When my fashion try on haul videos took off, I was super shocked that people were actually watching me, and listening to me. From there I just started taking social media a lot more serious, and that’s when the sponsorships starting coming in. I’m trying to be more consistent today, but life continues to happen, and obstacles are always in the way. I just keep pushing myself and keep creating the content that I love. My content is who I am, it’s apart of me. I love recording, editing, taking photos, traveling, shopping for new clothes, etc. I always told myself “if only I could find a job where I could take photos all day and try on clothes,” I never knew “Youtube” was going to be that job. There’s so much more success that I would love to reach in my social media career, but I am thankful for how far I have come, and blessed to continue to be inspired and motivated to keep going. My success is not the big picture, but it’s the small wins that makes up the big picture.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First of all when the bestie is in town, one thing we have to do in Atlanta is eat! I love me a “girl’s day out” brunch with some good food and drinks. There’s so many great restaurants in the city, to name a few, “Le Colonial, Batsi, Breakfast at Barney’s, Toast on Lenox,” the list can go on. I literally have a list of restaurants I want to check out in my phone specifically for when the girls call. After brunch I love hanging out at “Shops at Buckhead” or “:Phipps Plaza” to check out what’s in store. Maybe watch a move at “Ipic Theaters,” and later that evening hit the night clubs. Some of my favorite night clubs in Atlanta is “Vivide Atlanta, Traffik, Boogalou Lounge, and probably random parties we may find on eventbrite. The next day, I would love a good spa day with facials and full body massages, nails and toes done, and getting the hair slayed by the Goddesses of Atl. I recently went to a spa day at “Jeji Sauna” in Duluth, GA and I would say I left there very rejuvenated and relaxed, but it was a very different experience. People would have to go to get their own experience, but to me it was okay as far as the environment, but I left feeling amazing. There’s so many other great things I would do in Atlanta, shopping, spa days, Bruch, clubbing, the list goes on. I love challenges and adventure so Andretti indoor Karting and games as well as a walk up Stone Mountain would definitely be added to list. After eating, turning up at the clubs, and being adventurous, I also love to come back to peace with a yoga class. There’s not a specific yoga class that I go to, but sometimes in the spring/summer there’s free yoga classes around the city. The feeling of becoming one with yourself and coming back to home- home as in your body- is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family! I am so thankful for a supportive family specifically my Brothers: Quentin Coleman, Calvin Coleman, Scott Coleman, Javon Ealey. As well as my cousin Getina Coleman. My grandmother Patricia Ealey has been a major help in my life and if it wasn’t for family I don’t know where I would be in life. There’s plenty of others that played major roles in my life, but if I listed them all that I would be a long list.
