We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Harry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kevin, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
It takes talent to succeed. There a myth that people are just born with certain abilities. I think for the most part if you apply yourself, and are dedicated to your craft you will succeed. Talent will get you in the door, but hard work and perseverance will keep you in the room.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I specialize in headshots and creative portraiture. The genres can range from theatrical, editorial and glamour. In a sense what I do is provide magazine style photo shoots to everyday people. The journey to get where I am now was rather long with a series of hiccups but I persevered!.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many things to do in the city but here a few things I would suggest: Breakfast – Thumbs Up Diner – Midtown – This is a locals favorite and the staff is always friendly High Museum – The exhibits are always changing, and there is always something new to see BBQ – Heirloom – Best BBQ in the city, and I am ready to start a fight about this. Piedmont Park – Because you can’t beat the people watching
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wife, she gave me my first camera and has inspired me ever since!
