Meet Kevin Harris | Peer Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kevin, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my non-profit to help other people who struggle substance abuse disorder because of my lived experience and the challenges I had through my addiction. The last 13 years I have learned tools that I can share that help me to stay clean and sober.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m working on building a tiny home community for transitional housing for guys coming out of jail and rehab.
I work with the homeless meet needs and work with any who have addiction problems
I work with individuals one on one peer counseling.
I go around sharing my lived experiences to inspire others.
I help individuals get into rehab who are ready for help.
I run a program in the jail for guys to help them get ready for reentry.
I work with other sober livings in town.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would check out a sporting event depending on the time of year for which one.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Judge Smith for holding me accountable in Drug Court after I got in trouble.
My parents and family for the support they gave me in my journey of recovery.
