We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayla Luster and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kayla, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
“Get it done now, make it perfect later.” One of the biggest things that hindered my early business ideology process was my need to have everything perfect. Once I was able to let go of the idea of perfection my thought process concentrated on the key principals of my business plan and what I wanted to achieve within the first year. I wanted to of course get my inventory finalized first, webpage or selling channel established and be ready to ship my products as the orders came in. Overall I wanted to handle the technical first and move on to fine tuning design and brand later on.

What should our readers know about your business?
First off , Sassebeauti is here to shake up the hair braiding experience and I am honored to be the founder of this fearless hair experience. What sets Sassebeauti apart is our niche concentration on the luxury ombre braid hair market, unique artistic color options, and our ability to explain the connections between the hair colors we choose and our physical energies . I am most proud of our placement within various black owned beauty supply stores and being able to connect , network and build revenue within the black beauty leadership community. Today we are carried in over 7 black owned beauty supply stores along with our online shop and the road has not been easy but the rewards have definitely been worth the ride. One of my biggest challenges as an entrepreneur is organizing my work/life balance and finding creative ways to stay organized and multitask . I want the world to remember the Sassebeauti brand as a fearless leader in all things life, beauty, and hair. When it comes to color braid luxury I plan on remaining the top tier and best choice and a true trendsetter within the industry.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So Atlanta has become such a Mecca for the turn up brunches , what can I say…we love to brunch. My favorite spot right now to grab a yummy bite for brunch time is definitely The Breakfast Boys in the College Park area. The entire menu is full of delicious food served in some pretty nice portions. You can’t go wrong with whatever you choose. On any weekday I would take them down to Piedmont before we head over top Top Golf for some happy hour golf fun. Im starting to really love the local jazz scene and a trip over to one of my favorite jazz clubs with some dancing to a live mass beat has our Thursday night written all over it.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I absolutely want to dedicate this shoutout to my beautiful mom. She recently transitioned and it’s extremely important for me to recognize her invaluable contribution to the woman I am today and will be tomorrow with the life that I live in her absence. My mom taught me so many invaluable lessons and life tricks, a lot of which I find myself naturally doing in my day to day. Above all she taught me what true strength is and it was her strength that enabled her to love the way that she did, fearless and without condition.
