We had the good fortune of connecting with Kay Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kay, what is the most important factor behind your success?

My most important factor behind my success is that I enjoy being creative. Ever since I can remember I’ve been artistic:painting, coloring things, designing clothes, decorating, styling hair, basically what ever I could think to do I did.

I do what I love and that’s why I think I’m successful, people pay me to do what I love, it’s awesome!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I enjoy my work, always desiring to create something new. I’m busy being a caricature artist, balloon designer, and running a photobooth business. All of these businesses keep me super busy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

For food, I would cook breakfast then i would take her to The Mad Italian for beef steak sandwiches and This is It restaurant to eat dinner.

For something cool to see we would go to the GA. Aquarium. I love that place!

For fun-Roller skating and Round one for games, we can ride the bull, jump on the trampolines, bowl, or chill and have a drink. We also enjoy going to Top Golf and Kareoke,I love to sing.

Shopping we would go to the Lenox Mall.

I enjoy art and museums, stuff like that. We would go and see Stone Mountain and take a hike on the trail there.Maybe ride bikes down Comet Trails.

Drive to Tennessee and see the caves and look out Mountain. One of my favorite spots.

Go and listen to live jazz at night

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

Tony Smith my husband has been a pillar in my success. Had it not been for him I wouldn’t have pursued art professionally. He has built me up for 10 years. He is my greatest supporter.

My mother Bernadine “Tinkerbell” Jackson showed my siblings and I the importance of being self employeed. It’s because of her I feel I can build a house, start a business, and be a good wife.
