Meet Karynn Wright-Hough | Talent Agent

We had the good fortune of connecting with Karynn Wright-Hough and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karynn, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
Originally from Buffalo, New York I grew with parents both in education. My dad was a science teacher and my mom was Assistant Dean of Student Affairs at the University of New York at Buffalo. They both showed me not just the value of education but the importance of helping people in the community. They both served unselfishly though out Western New York and were known for their numerous contributions. Nicknamed “The born leader” by a family friend I lead by the same example and integrity I had been taught all my life.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
In 2016 I launched FreshTalent Group. As an agent we work behind-the-scenes in the entertainment industry. We grease the wheels, cut the deals, and find work for dance, actors and choreographers.

My chief responsibility is to guide our client’s career path, helping with career development, branding, public relations, networking and often times just being friend. As part of this effort, I may do any of the following for a client: set up meetings between talent and casting directors, send talent to auditions, and negotiate employment contracts. This is part of what makes us different. For us it is not only about booking the job but creating longevity and guidance in the business.

Like any small business we have had several hurtles to climb. From the start casting directors didn’t know we even existed. Fortunately though my daughter influences and hard work we began to make connections. The more networking we did the more people learned about FreshTalent Group (FTG). We are most proud of the huge accomplishments we have made in only 5 short years. To date we have worked with some of the largest brands including Netflix, HBO, ABC, Comedy Central, ESPN, Nickelodeon, Chevrolet, Dove Awards, CMA, Boost Mobile, Harley Davison, Cabi, NFL and many others.

A few tremendous moments are booking 15 men for the Super Bowl Halftime show with The Weeknd, a soon to be released Tyler Perry Movie “A Jazz Man’s Blues”, and the new movie about the late great Whitney Houston.

The story of FreshTalent is a story of family. Family to us means loving and supporting one another, when one person wins we all win.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Originally from Buffalo, NY, I would find the best wing spot in any town. When visiting Buffalo, I hit up world famous Duff’s or the Anchor Bar. Quiet is kept I make the best wings!!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
No one gets anywhere alone.

Shoutout to Mom and Dad!
My dad has since passed, but both of my parent’s have always been very supportive both emotionally and financially. Whenever I have an idea no matter how crazy it might sound mom is on board! Cheerleader in everything I pursue.

Shoutout to my daughter Chelsea “Solace” Hough and husband Mark
Chelsea is a professional dancer and the inspiration of how FreshTalent Group came into existence. She has been my rock and I have learned a lot from her. Although Chelsea is still very active in her own career she has stepped in as co-owner to share her invaluable knowledge and connections with our talent.
Shoutout to my husband Mark..with job like mine there are no days off, but always goes with the flow and offers his help and support always!

Shoutout to family and friends
I have some real ride or die supporters honestly too many to name. These hero’s and SHEro’s role up their sleeves and help me whenever I ask and even when I don’t ask! I am forever grateful to all of them.
