Meet Karma Sutra | Spoken Word Artist and Writer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Karma Sutra and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Karma, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success has been my authenticity. Believe it or not, I am very interactive with my followers whether it be on social media or in person. I believe it’s my authenticity and honesty that attracts people to my brand and allows people from all walks of life to find the relatability or connectivity that we share through the process of creative healing.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from most of the industry and the artists in general again is my authenticity. Every poem, song, and story come from real life experiences that is transformed into a creative art form to allow others to share in that experience. I got to where I am today as an artist by persistence and dedication towards the development of my craft. It is never easy, but it is always worth it. People usually don’t see the hours of practice it takes to be able to perform on stage however it is that consistency and dedication that has separated me from the other already established poets and artists in the industry. I want the world to know that my brand and story is actually real. In a world of illusions my brand promotes the process of inner progress being manifested one healing moment at a time.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well first, I would take my best friend to little 5 points on a Wednesday night to go check out Who Wanna Pho for some greats food with amazing poetry. I would definitely recommend the lemon shots to start as well as an appetizer that I enjoy called crab Rangoon’s followed by some Vietnamese wings and then of course their famous Pho. My favorite Pho dish is called Pho Real Tho. It is a delicious blend of brisket and meatballs in a Vietnamese style Pho with a bunch of Atlanta flavor and spices. After that I would take them on the belt way to explore the city before wrapping things up on Buford highway for Tacos at El Rey Del Taco for that truly unique Spanish taste.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The Human Kindness Foundation is who I must shout out and show a great deal of appreciation to. When I was incarcerated in the Georgia Department of corrections this foundation sent me books as well as other spiritual literature to guide me on my spiritual journey. When I was at my lowest points in life it was this foundation that kept me clear headed and on the right path and I am forever grateful to them for the letters, material, and guidance throughout my 7 years incarcerated.
