We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonathan Jefferson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jonathan, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea for my business through soul searching and wanting to be able to give what I did not have growing up. With a little help and extra push, I eventually decided to go ALL IN.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In the profession of teaching basketball, I have experienced a lot in so little time! What sets me apart from others is that I am a good listener, understanding, confrontational, and down-to-earth. There will never be a time that I am not authentic to myself, others, and the game of basketball. I am most proud of myself because I don’t think anyone expected me to coach or start a training business and to see the little success it has brought me. I am also forever grateful for each and every opportunity for whomever I am working with. To get where I am professionally, I took a leap of faith with prayer put into works! Life is all about the journey, if anything was too easy, everyone would be doing so! Coaching demands a balance of time management, discipline, and organization. Some lessons that I have learned along the way are: to remain humble, continue to study and keep knowledge polished, and stop underestimating oneself (value). One thing that I would want the world to know is that working with me is a life-changing experience and that all workout sessions will be tailored 100% to the athlete.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In the city of Birmingham, there are plenty of activities to do such as the Birmingham Zoo, Botanical Gardens, McWane Science Center, StarDome Comedy Club, Galleria of Birmingham, TopGolf, LockedIn, Dave and Busters, Red Mountain Walking Trail and Zipline, The Perfect Note Jazz Lounge, and Birmingham Civil Rights Museum. Food: Jakes Jamaican Soulfood Cafe, Eugene’s Hot Chicken, Big Bad Breakfast, Texas de Brazil, J Wings, Grannies Fish n Grits, and Landry’s Seafood. Depending on interests I think Birmingham is too small but big enough to accommodate activities for a week’s stay. There is an international airport located in Northern Birmingham. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shout-out to all of my close friends and family for giving me the support and extra motivation to create my own business! I have received mentorship from previous coaches that I have a relationship with as the years have passed. My WHY is dedicated to athletes and coaches who seek help in developing better on the floor, or off the floor habits to increase performance optimally! Although I am very self-driven and motivated, one very important factor that keeps me going is my daughter!
