We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Browne and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Taking action is one of the habits I feel helped me succeed. When I really want to accomplish something, I go for it, even if things are not in place. When I started this journey, I was unemployed, with very little money, and knew nothing about social media. But I just started anyway, learning along the way, working with my favorite brands, and meeting amazing people!
Another habit I feel helped me succeed is networking. My favorite line is, “Your net worth is your network.” No matter what you want to do, who you know can get you some amazing opportunities. Networking also allows you to create relationships that support your brand, just as you support theirs. It takes a village to build something great.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is my positive mindset. I believed in myself and removed the “can’t” from my vocabulary. I am proud of how far I’ve come and the community I’ve created. That was one of the things I was worried about. Now, I have a community that I enjoy showing up for every day.
I got to where I am today by networking. My first brand collaboration came from a Facebook friend referral. That brand collaboration led to several more opportunities that helped me build my brand and portfolio.
It wasn’t an easy journey. I made a lot of mistakes and missteps that I had to learn from. But these mistakes helped me create the strategies that I have in place today. Along the way, I learned to put the “social” back into social media. Social media is about connecting with other amazing creatives. Connecting with other creatives is what makes this even more enjoyable.
If you had to learn anything from my story, you’d learn that anything is possible! I am still amazed that I was able to go from being an executive chef to being a beauty influencer within a couple years.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My absolute favorite place to go in Atlanta is the Aquarium! Their exhibits are amazing, and their dolphin show is fun and interactive. I always stop at the gift shop! The Atlanta Zoo is my second favorite. I love getting to feed the giraffes and visit the elephants. If you’re into arcades and/or go karting, I love going to Andretti’s. You can grab something to eat and drink while having fun and being competitive with friends.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out to my boyfriend. He has been my #1 fan this whole journey. Whenever I was ready to throw in the towel, he was the one pushing me. He believed in me when I couldn’t, and that meant a lot to me.
