We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeral Clyde II and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeral, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process about starting my own business was surrounded by being a product of myself and not my environment. As a young man growing up in the inner city of Atlanta I sold everything I could get my hands on. I sold candy, fire crackers, movies, cds, and more. I always wanted to turn my hustle professional. Going to college taught me a lot which expanded my mindset about people. Starting a business is a simple process, the real work comes in when you promote your business, maintain your business and finance your business. Going the old fashion way with business doesn’t work for some people. Some people have to disrupt their environment before disrupting the business world.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being from the city of Atlanta, Georgia I have seen my city change to a more Hollywood world. I have been producing content and making music since my high school years at Carver. This year I dropped an album/EP entitled “Affirmation Music” to motivate people to believe in oneself. My recording artist name is JC the Director. I direct films and music videos. We recently released the Universal Guide to Making Music Videos and the Universal Guide to Producing Movies. Having distribution for films is tough when you are independent producer but I made it happen. My documentary the History of Cigars is now on digital platforms and in Wal-Mart and Best Buy. That’s big coming from somebody who use to sell bootleg movies as a kid. I always want to be better than yesterday so I strive to write, edit and make more content everyday. My wife, Elizabeth Clyde and I are a great writing team and we keep each other motivated. I brought my family into the writers room and we are continuing to knock out scripts, skits and shorts films. Every Thursday with the blessing of Edwin OG Hoodrich, I produce a show called the “Underground Comics of Atlanta” hosted by Mr. Durte, which we are in talks to get distributed to a TV network or on digital platforms. My family helps me out a lot on set. My vision is to build a global family company. Underground Comics of Atlanta spotlights comedians who are not in the spotlight and some are very first timers. This show is a great show because it creates a stage for comedians that really are not viral at the moment. We are filming 6-10 episodes and will start producing live shows.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spots in Atlanta are Cigar lounges. Sometimes I will stop by Cigar Times, Davidoff lounge, WiseAsh Cigar lounge and plenty others. If I wanted to grab a good bite to eat for my family I would go to Jamal’s Buffalo Wings, Taste of Soul or Zaxbys on MLK. Sometimes I will place a pickup order at Frost Bistro to grab some lamb chops. If i’m not out with my family filming I am in the house with my family writing, editing, and planning.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this shoutout to my family, wonderful wife and kids as well as the book the Universal Guide to Producing Movies and the Universal Guide to Making Music Videos.
