We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenny Kelley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jenny, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Speaking from experience , a big thing outsiders don’t realize is the investments that go into photography. Both time and money play such a huge roll. I definitely didn’t know until I got behind the camera. I think it should be a discussion because, as a client, understanding the time, knowledge, and just a snippet of the backend really allows you to cherish the experience and your images that much more. As a photographer, I know that I put countless hours of love and attention into my work and I want my clients to know it is so much more than click click. I continue to invest in myself so that I can continue to grow not only for myself and my passion but for my clients.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a creative, I love to see something that is there but just needs a new perspective . My goal as a photographer isn’t to stand in front of you and capture a fake smile that you put on because I told you. I want to tell your story. I want to get those genuine smiles, that emotion, where you are in that part of your life and create that memory for you to have for years. I’m with you for a little bit but I want to make an impact that allows you to tell your story. Whatever that may be . You are unique. Your story is yours. Aligning my ability to create with your unique story is what sparks my fire. Getting here wasn’t easy. I deal with self doubt and comparison , just as a lot of people do. I have to remember my why often, I have a goal to grow and I don’t have a final destination . I will keep learning and growing. I’m in competition with myself and myself only. The biggest lesson in the last few years has been that no matter how many people are here I’m worthy and no one can see the world from my point of view. And that goes for everyone in whatever you’re doing and chasing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Atlanta. Born and raised and still exploring . I love this city. A few of my favorite places would be downtown of course. As crazy as it can be, I love the diversity . I love walking through Centennial Park , I love the street food you can find down there. But a lot of my time is spent right here in Tucker. Main Street is packed with community . Village Burger and Local 7 are a family favorite. Watching our little city come alive is so much fun. We love exploring local parks like McDaniel Farm park which is a cute little farm that has been kept almost as it was in the 1930’s . We love walking and exploring the miles of land it has to offer. I think my favorite part is that you can find anything here. Rural , urban, hometown feel, city vibes- you name it.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So many people have played such a huge role in my story. A few that stand out would be my husband for pushing me beyond my frustrations and unbelief in myself. We need those pushes to remind us why we started. Alyssa Hollis ( Alyssa Hollis Photo) has been one of my biggest cheerleaders. I took an editing mentorship with her and she poured into me and still does. She’s the kind of person you want in your corner. Brooke Jefferson ( Brooke Janae Photography) has been another huge cheerleader. I did her business mentorship and she just has so much knowledge. She is a gem and taught me so many things to propel my business to the next level. It’s amazing to have genuine people in your industry who know there are enough clients for us all and the support is so genuine. There are so many other people I literally couldn’t list them all but a super shoutout to Kattie Jackson ( Kattie Jackson Photography) or thinking of me for this and always rooting for me.
