We had the good fortune of connecting with JazmenGlory Kelly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi JazmenGlory, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to create a lane for myself that not only felt like me but also focused on bringing back the art of actually caring for hair. I feel that we’ve gotten away from that and it truly makes me sad. There is such beauty in pouring love into the hair that you’re doing. I saw that there was a lack of that in my industry currently and I used that as an opportunity to not only create a lane for myself but to bring back a piece of history and nostalgia when it comes to those fond memories of the little girl inside all of us that loved to just sit between our mothers knees and have our hair taken care of and just feel completely safe.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a hairstylist and Lash artist in the Atlanta area. I’ve been in the beauty industry since 2016 and have been head over heels ever since! I truly believe in the power of healing, love, and affirmation that comes from self care. With everything that goes on in our lives on a daily basis, I love being able to offer the guests that come to see me a moment of stasis. This journey of self discovery and business hasn’t been the easiest but that’s how I know that I’m moving in the right direction. Life isn’t easy so I don’t expect this to be either but I’ve learned many lessons over my time in this industry that help me navigate my road ahead. Failure is not a bad thing, it’s just a part of the process. As long as you stay true to yourself and operate in discipline and consistency, success will always be on the horizon.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m actually a new Atlanta transplant by way of Florida so maybe I’m the one in need of an itinerary! I moved here right before COVID so I unfortunately haven’t had the opportunity to truly see what Atlanta has to offer as of yet. I did however have dinner at the restaurant Mojave more recently and let me just say that it was amazing! I had the crab cakes and the “ramble” cocktail…chefs kiss!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to my father. Anyone who knows me, knows the drive & hunger that I have. I got that from him. He was my living example of an amazing human and entrepreneur. Through him I’ve had the opportunity to see the success of a man that came from literally nothing but worked extremely hard for everything. I saw him successfully build his business from the ground up. He was an engineer and was very shocked that I chose such an artistic career but he believed in and supported me regardless. He guided me through the process of solidifying my business and caught me each time that failed. A shining example of everything I’m striving to be. I am so thankful for you daddy and I will miss you so much! Sleep in peace.
