We had the good fortune of connecting with Jay Mason and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jay, what are you inspired by?
My experiences and traveling, family friends, music. To be honest I take inspiration from pretty much any where. When. I feel called to create i do so.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As for my art it came about during a period in my life where I was feeling lost and unsure of what I wanted to do next. My art has been my therapy, and a way to help me vent without having to speak. It started out as just a Bobbie I didn’t think much of it or even see it as being my career, however I had the support of my family and friends who helped to push me to get serious about making it a business. Definitely been some ups and downs but all
worth it. I want people to see my art a tool that can help them unlock their truest and fullest creative potential. What I’m most proud of as it relates to my art is it’s ability to help me connect to people on a much more mental and spiritual level. The challenges that I’ve faced is being judged and ridiculed for not making my work like other creatives, and I realized that I don’t make art for people’s approval, make art that speaks. All in all I’m grateful.
