We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Vaughn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Honestly i was tired of working for someone. I wanted to be my own boss. Make my own hours and be able to be creative in my own space. Being able to watch my children grow and thrive has always been important to me. My mother worked all her life and still is. If I can be the one to break a cycle and or stop something new , I was and am up for that challenge.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a professional wig maker my business goes by the name of Laidtastic Wigs. What’ sets me apart from other wig makers is the simplicity of the wide variety of styles and colors provided. My goal is to always promote healthy hair and growth. I have taken and still take the time to explore and continue grow in my craft. To get where I am today I had to stop doubting myself and go for it. I had to say you can instead you can’t. I had to stop comparing myself to other wig makers and create my work style , brand and name. It was a challenge and still is a challenge being in a industry where there are so many of us. So far I’ve learned to be me. Don’t look to side of me but to keep my focus ahead of me. Take one day and one step at a time.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My bestfriend is from my city so this one is hard. But I’d say I’d take her to the district in LA it’s a new hotpot club like lounge with great food and drinks.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to first thank God for being the one who’s kept me here in the midst of chaos. My family for always encouraging me and being behind me in whatever I decide to do in life. My Mentor and sister Brianna Binion a wife and mother of 6. She makes it look easy yall! Shes a light in my life that I can always look up to and go to when I need guidance. Also my grandmothers for there wisdom , prayers , and love.
