We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Robinson-Moss and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Life can change in an instant. I believe we have all seen that this past year. I went from juggling working full-time, going to graduate school part-time, and being a wife to being a wife, a new mom, working part-time, a graduate student, and entrepreneur (J.R Styles & Accessories LLC). My balance has definitely changed, but I think it has changed for the better. Being a mom has been one of the most rewarding things I could ever be. It pushes you to be a better person because you are now responsible for someone else’s life and you have someone looking up to you daily. This past year has definitely taught me that being present is important and that living life is very essential. Being an entrepreneur has definitely pushed me outside of my comfort zone and has taught me many lessons. You don’t get to turn the off switch to being an entrepreneur. You are up late at night thinking of content, looking at the current trends, and thinking of ways to be better. Therefore, it is very vital to find time for YOU! Whether its taking a couple of hours out of your day to take yourself out to lunch, get a pedicure, or by yourself flowers it’s important. Selfcare is essential because if you’re off balance then how can you show up for anyone else or your business?
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
No outfit is complete without the perfect accessory piece. You can have the main dish but what is the main dish without the sides? I love accessories and I love to keep up with the latest fashion trends, but I also like to ball on a budget. This is why I created J.R Styles & Accessories. We have luxury accessories at affordable prices. We have fashion accessories for women, children, and men. Owning a business especially in the fashion industry can be challenging because things are constantly going out of style and there is always a new trend that you have to jump on. I have learned that everything is not for my business and that those “old” styles often come back around so hold out and hang on.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If we were in Atlanta visiting I would definitely go to Slutty Vegan (a few times lol). I would also visit SkyView, The King Center, the Atlanta Breakfast Club, and the mall of course. I’m sure there are many other places I would check out as well.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this shoutout to my loving family near and far. I dedicate this shoutout to my husband Terrence Moss and my son Josiah Moss. Those that continue to support me and my business whether online or in person. I dedicate this shoutout to every individual that I meet at the vendor events I attend and every person that I will meet in the future.
