We had the good fortune of connecting with Jann Simi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jann, why did you pursue a creative career?
I chose to pursue a career in music because when I sing and create music I feel the most free, excited, and happy. I have pursued other career paths and music keeps pulling me back. I believe being an artist is my calling.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
This is a great question. Well, honestly it’s very exciting that I have just scratched the surface of my artistry. I just released my very first project titled “Dive In” in November 2020 and it is doing well. As a new artist I love to focus heavily on the quality of my work. My team is still fairly small so I like to perfect one project at a time and ensure high quality over quantity vs spreading myself too thin and focusing on quantity over quality. When listening to my project I often get feedback that I don’t sound like a new artist at all. I believe this is because I really took my time, practiced for hours and had many sleepless nights over the years until my music was of quality and on the most professional level that I desired. I have so many songs that I recorded over the years that will never come out lol but it was all practice and preparation. I am looking forward to the journey that’s ahead. There is still so much to learn and I pride myself on being someone who is very coachable and willing to put in the work to achieve my goals and dreams. I want the world to know that there is love and passion embedded in every single thing that I do. I am an independent artist and I am the leading force behind everything that I do. Every song and visual that you experience from me has a story and I am so excited to keep telling the world my truth.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly I am such a homebody! So, when I do decide to step out I love doing things that bring me peace and make me feel at home. If a friend was in town, pre or post the pandemic, I would take them to Centennial Olympic park for a picnic. American Deli is what is on the menu for sure. (My order: 10 piece medium with Lemmon pepper sprinkles, fries well done, and a mixed drank). If you are from Atlanta then you know exactly what a mixed drank is from American deli, We would put out a nice blanket, bring a speaker out there and just vibe. Next, I would take them to the Georgia Aquarium. I absolutely love sea animals. Dolphins and whale sharks are actually my favorite animals. Of course we would go to Atlantic station for some light shopping and to see a movie.Lastly, we would go to Bonfire ATL event to end out the week. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to God, my team, my supporters, and to all of the dreamers out there. My passion and my purpose is for my journey to inspire and motivate others to follow their dreams and to find peace and joy. Thank you to every single person who has made it possible for me to come thus far. I’m working hard to continue to grow.
