We had the good fortune of connecting with Jania Feracho and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jania, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was, I can literally do what I want when I want on my time without having someone managing me! I can eliminate a lot of stress and do what makes me happy and get paid for it. I also knew if I started my own business, it would free up time to spend with my family.
What should our readers know about your business?
K’Lani’s Kreations was created with my kids in mind. All three of them have K names so I combined a little bit of everyone to create my brand name!
It all started after my husband bought me the Cricut machine for Christmas one year. My son began asking me to make him things. Then I started making things and practicing until I realized how fun and relaxing crafting really was for me. It was then that I knew crafting was definitely for me.
My business is not like other crafting businesses out there. I don’t have a generalized specialization. Whatever my customers request, I strive to exceed their expectations whether it’s a t-shirt or a tumbler. I give 150% in whatever I do. I got to where I am today with my business because I believe in me and my customers believe in me and trust that I have their best interest at heart.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m not really a city girl, but I have stumbled upon a few gems in Atlanta! I would definitely have to take my bestie to The Hive restaurant to eat some of their grits! The Beltline and Ponce City Market are a MUST! The scenery is nice on the Beltline and the food, shopping, and rooftop are show stoppers for sure! I love the Aquarium and the Zoo. They never get old to me. I can’t forget to take my bestie to Atlantic Station so we can shop and eat until we drop lol. To end it all I would have to bring bestie to Conyers to eat Nana’s Chicken and Waffles! The salmon croquettes are soooo scrumptious!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, Kevin, my cousin Keila, and my friends Samirra and Salayna. My husband saw my daily struggle with working full time in addition to juggling having a newborn, digital learning for our oldest, the terrible two year old, being a wife, and being a student. I was never happy and he told me to quit my 9-5 because it was doing more harm than good at this point. So I did what he said! I felt so relieved! My cousin told me she will support me on my journey and encouraged me to get out there! My friends told me that I have the talent for it so I need to let my fears go and jump into my calling. I thank them so much for believing in me and giving me the extra confidence booster I needed to jumpstart my business!
