We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamie, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My work like balance has changed tremendously over time. Balancing having a daughter to jumping head first into entrepreneurship has been a tough task. Ultimately, I always feel like if I’m successful with one I’m failing with the other. Once I started to shift my perspective on what success looks like for myself and not anyone else balance became easier to manage. Leaning on my support system is balance, self care is balance, saying no is balance! Once I started to prioritize what’s important in my life the balance just followed. I’m still working everyday to create the balance that works best for me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The work that I do daily incorporates a conglomerate tools to assist with achieving the goals of the mind, body and soul. My integrity sets my apart from others. I believe integrity will carry me far personally and professionally. I’m a most proud of and excited about overall growth. Thinking about where I started and where I am today blows my mind. I can’t wait to see and feel what the future holds. Getting the where I am professionally took a lot lessons, setbacks and faith. It wasn’t easy and I don’t think it’ll get easier because I’ll still have to deal with those things in the future. I know that my experience with dealing with them will be easier to manage because I’ve dealt with it on some level. I’ve overcome challenges by staying consistent and patient! Those two things have taught me so much. Just use the tools that you have access to, put in the work and everything will fall in place. I want the world to know that no matter what the world says you are deserving of everything you need and more. Telling and sharing your story will help you and others in ways you could never imagine. My story is still being written and told so stay tuned for more.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Whew! See it’s 2021, I have a business and a baby. My friends, even the best of them, know that you’re not going to get a week of anything out of me. I have to much to tend to but we can definitely link up at some point. We will definitely hit up Effect Fitness to get the best workout in the city in. Next would be The Village Market Retail store in Ponce City Market where a curated collection of premier black businesses are on display. Lastly, we would have to hit up two of my favorite restaurants, Life Bistro and Apt B. Both have amazing food, drinks, music and service. Every business that I’ve mentioned are BLACK OWNED✊🏾

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It’s so many I don’t know where to begin! I truly dedicate this shout out to my mom and dad. They have been the foundation for everything since birth. I’m truly grateful for them.
