We had the good fortune of connecting with Jameka Colbert and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jameka, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I chose a creative career because you can tell sooo many stories or portray a message through hair, object, etc.

Someone can tell you something so personal that they really hold dear to their heart. Me as a creative and as a very in-tuned emotional being. That in some way form or fashion i try to do something unique to them and their story.

I love the confidence that my clients have when im done their hair. I want you to feel brand new. I want you to feel like you can conquer the world.

Also, im such a people person. In some way i feel like my purpose is to connect with people thru things im passionate about and build solid true friendships from a simple conversation …. maybe a bout hair or how i can execute your photo shoot. Your choice lol 🙂

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Im very honest with my work. I dont sugar coat much. LOL!

Also i feels what sets me apart from most is i really try to be on top of who i work with and what their about. I care about relationships i build with people when it comes to business. Im not picky but cautious. When you are serious about your brand and where you want to go you have to be choosey with who you have around you no matter what.

Im very friendly but im solid in the “work oriented” category. I love hard and work harder if that makes sense.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I know this will probably shock some.

But, it is me who deserves recognition. I dont pat myself on the back often. I dont congratulate myself enough for being me, a hardworker, trustworthy, respectful, honest, a friend, a confidant. Ya know. I want to recognize myself i always push me to the back burner and want to please everyone else and put others before me.

I want to dedicate it to the Jameka i am today. Im proud.
