We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaisha Figueroa and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jaisha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
At first, my thoughts were all over the place when I first decided to start my business. When the pandemic hit it was an eye-opener. I felt uncertain at times and developed some depression and anxiety. I knew I needed to make a change within myself, so I did some soul searching and asked myself some important questions: What does my idea future look and feel like? What are things that I need to do to reach my goals and dreams? As a young mother of three boys, I felt at times I was not putting myself first, so I decided the first thing I needed to do to reach my dreams and goals was to start a self-care routine. Through my journey, I realized having a self-care routine helps me better manage my depression and anxiety and that’s when a light bulb went off in my head. I knew that I wanted to help women and young girls start their self-care routine. I knew that I could use my voice to talk to other young girls and women about the pressures of living up to society’s standards. I had so many ideas that at times I would stay up at night just thinking about what I needed to do. To help organize my thoughts, I decided to start writing down my ideas and start watching Youtube videos, and reading articles of other entrepreneurs to get an insight into their highs and lows, which helped me prioritize my to-do list. And just like that in November of 2020, I created Dope Chicks’ Club.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have had two different careers throughout the years. After graduating college, I worked as a Youth Counselor at a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility for adolescents; however, due to my fiances work we had to relocate, so I was a little upset because that was my dream job helping adolescents work through their childhood trauma so they can reach their full potential as an adult. Currently, I work as a Senior Client Support Specialist at a background investigating company. I am so grateful for all of my career choices because they have taught me great customer service, problem-solving, and leadership skills. I developed Dope Chicks’ Club with three key principles, empowerment, problem-solving, and innovation. That is what sets Dope Chicks’ Club apart from other skincare and cosmetics brands. Dope Chicks’ Club meets you where you are at and gets you to where you want to be with inspirational quotes, affirmations, beauty tips, and high-quality affordable skincare, and cosmetics! Dope Chicks’ Club is not about being perfect it’s about being your best self.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I moved to Atlanta a little over two years ago, so I am still new to the area. I can not wait for my friends to come and visit me. So far Atlanta has not disappointed me, I love the culture and everything it has to offer. I would recommend my friends to get a hotel in downtown Atlanta, like the Hilton or Artmore Hotel. They both provide beautiful places to relax, lounge and are amazing places to stay. I am a big selfie lover, so we must visit The Atlanta Selfie Museum. This place is a selfie lover’s dream it’s fun, bright, and vibrant. This place gives you an experience, nowhere else can, full of happiness and smiles. Most of my friends love Caribbean food and one of my favorite spots to eat is Apt 4b in Buckhead Atlanta. The restaurant is very artistic they have great Caribbean food and good music. The vibes are everything very sexy and energetic. And for my vegan friends I have to suggest Slutty Vegan is a viral sensation and well known for a completely plant-based menu and high energy wait staff, the lines are a little long but the food is amazing; hands down one of the best burgers in town. And to end the trip, I can’t think of a better place to go but Piedmont park. It’s a great place to get away when you need a breath of fresh air!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My fiance Chuck Lundi has always been my number one supporter, he has been there for me through the highs and lows. He always helps boost my self-esteem and confidence when I am down and always knows how to cheer me up. He also gives me a helping hand within my business by helping with packages and marketing. Also, my children Kaleb, Kamron, and Adonijah have always been my motivation, I had my first son Kaleb when I was 17 just graduating high school he was the first person to teach me unconditional love, and over the years my kids have always been my cheerleader. When I first started my business my kids would repost my content and give me tips on how to grow on Instagram.
