We had the good fortune of connecting with Indigo McCarthy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Indigo, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I knew I didn’t want to work a 9-5, I feel why work the average job when I can turn my hobbies(the things I love) into something bigger than just a hobby but A business. That’s what I did so I started researching things far as how to even start up a candle business, I knew how to make candles but I didn’t know the business aspects of it so I got to researching a variety of things & journaling everything down, I’m still learning new things to this day. I’m happy I turned my hobby into a dream instead of just making candles as gifts for the holidays why not just make candles all year round, I love doing it & I’m good at it so why not? I kept motivating myself I had my family/loved ones pushing me to do it as well and just like that I came up with a name and I took everything I learned and started making the magic happen.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I feel what sets me apart is that I’m very passionate about what I do, I not only enjoy making others happy with my candles but I enjoy the whole process of candle making its so therapeutic and relaxing. I love how creative I can get with making candles I be having so many different ideas and it just makes me happy man I love what I do. It’s not easy starting a business from scratch but man it’s worth it you literally have to do it all it can be overwhelming when you feel your giving it your best and people still not seeing you but I had to snap out of that mindset, I learned that won’t stop me it can’t hold me back I have acknowledge the ones that’s here for me the support I do have basically taking gratitude for where I currently am because that matters, lol sometimes we be looking so far in the future rushing ourselves that we forget to be thankful for where we are now and forget how far we come. I be looking at the candles I first started making to the ones I’m making now and it makes me happy because I see the progress, And that makes me feel you never should give up on yourself or your dreams you can literally do anything you out your mind to! I want the world to know do what you love, perfect your craft or whatever you do & don’t let anyone tell you different. When you give back to yourself only good can come out of it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For starters I would take her to get food we’re both foodies lol! Good food & mimosas. We would start brunch off at wishbone they have some good chicken & waffles! Mimosas are good there also, then we’ll take a stroll downtown looking at the city together & chatting it up. We’re both pretty laid back women,. After well go to my place & I’ll cook dinner she loves my cooking & well end the night eating watching a good anime. Second day I’ll make her favorite breakfast then we’ll go check out the art museum and after go to a karaoke or Jazz spot, after we’ll end the night eating at grand lux cafe. The third day we’re having a quick breakfast & going somewhere fun like jaks warehouse after well go get some food possibly the sugar factory I love their super large drinks! Ending the night off in a trolly around the city, def a vibe. The fourth day we’ll go out to breakfast most likely the original pancakes house, after we’ll go to a bar listen to some good music have a few shots and lol go look at some amazing scenery downtown ending the night. By the 5th day I also have a wax/spa appointment booked for us so we’ll eat a quick breakfast at home & make our way to our appointment after we’ll go get our nails done and go shopping at the mall snacking on their little dessert spots there. Ending the night off at the Cheesecake Factory. Some places that interest me in my area is the art museum, just downtown itself is beautiful & a vibe, like it’s so much scenery, you could be walking downtown and come Across some amazing talented people, playing their instruments etc. the sugar factory is one of my favorite places to go just the building in/out is so beautiful.
