We had the good fortune of connecting with Hfl Stony and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi hfl, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
I came to the realization that it’s always best to keep going in most cases. A lot of people don’t make it to witness the following morning, they die in their sleep unfortunately so what I’m trying to get at is the gesture of living through a hectic/amazing day the experiences are more than enough to keep going because at least you were present on Earth to witness a good or bad day. Business wise and life wise it’s alright to fail because at least you tried and that should always fuel you to continuously try until succeeding.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is a representation of my life. I consider my music a reflection of me my energy and subjects in my music is what sets me apart it’s authentic I’m most proud of myself and excited for my ascension and further evolution most of this wasn’t planned I somehow kept finding my torch reignited when the times I thought it died/went out the most I battle with depression and anxiety so it gets hard when my biggest enemy is me. I’ve learned to acknowledge my accomplishments more than dwell on my past and that is what keeps me going, I’ve learned having a big heart gets you used until you can no longer give. It gave me insight to go off peoples energy more than their words, that lets me know if their genuine and worth my time. My music speaks for those who doesn’t have a platform or voice to do so I’ve listened to a lot of musicians who battled with the same Rest in Peace to legends such as Chester Bennington, Kurt Cobain, RHQ, X, I eventually need the world to know that HFL is here and I wish to be the one to slow down the cycle of suicide/depression outbreaks and more, I want to be a therapist for those who need it and that’s what I’m hoping to accomplish through my art. I really lost friends behind us chasing our dreams and I can’t afford to let their loss be in vain.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We definitely pulling up downtown hit the aquarium I love animals so that would be the first spot and then Piedmont park got everything everybody Maggianos pretty good, Sugar Factory, Taco Mac, might hit Ruth Chris on a good day I normally like going to Marietta the whole Cumberland spot a vibe Round 1 is an arcade/bowling alley/bar that’s pretty fye.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve had certain situations in my life that caused me to believe I was in the midst of spiritual warfare I was constantly trapped in my head and certain music helped me (rapper Young Thug, Kodak Black, rock bands Sevendust, Korn, Rihanna) my music taste is everywhere lol. “The Gucci Mane Guide to Greatness” unbelievably helped me out too, the mother of my daughter most definitely can’t forget her. I also thank my peers Buckets, RD, Jupe, Deno, Lek all them boy’s got me through dark times from just talking stuff out or collaborating on a track together.
