We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Crouse and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heather, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always had an interest in photography, but this past August I started pursuing my dream full time. Prior to August, I was working full-time at a private school, which I absolutely loved, but I knew that doing photography full time would allow me to work from home with my baby, giving me more flexibility and time to learn and grow in the photography industry.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

My first time photographing a wedding as the main photographer was in June of 2020. I have almost tripled in weddings this year. I’m really proud of how far I’ve come since the beginning and am excited about 2022 weddings! I love building relationships with my couples and creating those timeless memories for them. My style is natural and True Tone, and this is intentional because I want my clients to look back 50 years from now and be able to step into the moments that were captured. I’ve learned that most people are not naturally comfortable being photographed but I love to use my humor and personality to break down any walls of discomfort.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many good spots in Athens! If a friend were visiting us in Athens, our first stop would be Jittery Joes for a cup of coffee or a vanilla chai latte. For lunch, we would eat at my favorite restaurant, Cali n Titos on the Eastside, dinner at Teds, and finish with white chocolate cheesecake from Last Resort.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to shoutout my Husband! He has been encouraging and helping me in my photography career.
