We had the good fortune of connecting with Harriet Sims and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Harriet, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
My business impacts my community in that it allows people to detox from the everyday hustle. Literally my clients experience a therapeutic environment each time when they even step into my doors. First they get to hear soothing healing sounds of music catered to the nervous system. They may have come thru Atlanta’s traffic which anybody that lives here knows just how hectic this can be. The trauma of road rage immediately gets released with aroma therapy called “Cheer me up Buttercup” when it hits them. Then when they sit down and get the therapeutic touch with products that have been selected just for each individual client based on their personal needs. Our goal at Hair Therapy Studio is to meet clients where they are whether they have hair or not. It goes nails the chair & that’s what we want them to experience a peaceful, private & personal experience where they feel valued & look vivacious!
What should our readers know about your business?
Hair Therapy Studio LL.C was created for clients to come and experience more than a precision hair cut or a natural twist set with fleek edges but to come & intentionally feel a release from trauma they’ve experienced in their day or life. Some clients aren’t even aware what they actually booked until they almost drift asleep or feel the quality time we get together that provides a private space to talk about anything knowing it stays right there. Even feeling that they belong & are truly valued.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In my city near the largest International Airports you can leave the airport & head to the Original Chik-Fil-A just a few minutes away to grab nuggets, fried okra, sweet potato soufflé, or just a waffle with other breakfast, lunch or dinner items with the optimal Southern customer service. Then on a summer or spring day after eating we’d take a digestive walk on one of our Beautiful Nature Beltlines. If it’s in the late fall or winter Season we’d visit the holiday light exhibits at our Atlanta Zoo or the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. And one of my other favorite places to hang out would be at my local church New Hope Baptist Church where I get to fellowship with other likeminded people in sharing the word of God thru service, singing, & worship time as well.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve helped parent two amazing young adults I have that deserve credit & recognition for my story. I believe God has allowed me to be here after a traumatic cancer journey. I fought thru believing God works heal me to see them as adults & get to experience them grow in their entrepreneurial roles while balancing life. It’s truly a faith walk. They helped make it all possible because I fought to be here for them.
