We had the good fortune of connecting with Giovanna Herrand and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi giovanna, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Being my own boss has always been my goal. I do not believe Ive envisioned anything else since I became a young adult. In my last semester of my bachelors degree I was asked what was I going to go after I graduated and I said, start my own business. Sure that exact business idea I wanted to start years ago has changed 100 times but the idea of being my own boss has never changed. Ive always been passionate about doing what makes me happy more than making tons of money. I want to do what I enjoy & in doing that make others happy.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
This is funny, because as I mentioned I have always loved photography. I think I asked for my first camera at maybe 12, might be wrong about that age but the point is, since the moment I got a camera I have not stopped taking photos.. Ive always known I wanted my own business, there has not been any other dream, but my freedom and to express my creativity. Why I did not think of becoming a photographer earlier… beats me. I was busy with life, with growing, with being a young mom, and just trying to find myself, which clouded my judgment as to what I really wanted.
With photography, I get to make others happy, & thats always been my goal with having my own business. I take pride in making sure my clients have fun during our sessions, in getting them comfortable and capturing their true self. I chose to be a brand photographer because of that one reason, being your true self. Thats what people want to see behind a business & a professional. My job is to help local business flourish through photos that represents the brand and the face behind the brand.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite things to do in the city include soccer games, a good cafe or local restaurant, festivals, breweries, vineyards, and some live music. Theres just so many great places but off the top of my head… I specially enjoy Reformation Brewery in Woodstock because its family friendly and the playground is right across. I also enjoy all the vintage markets, & the fact that all the cities here have their own downtown filled with great restaurants and events & can not forget the ton of food halls. Getting on a scooter and just enjoying the Beltline is my go to things in the city. I love that we have tons of hiking trails, so many amazing outdoor activities & many amazing towns like Chattanooga near by. Atlanta & its suburbs are truly beautiful. So to answer the question…. it will depend on my friends taste, the possibilities are endless.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
All the credit behind Erran Photos goes to my family & my kids. Without the overwhelming amounts of videos and photos that were constantly captured as I grew up, I would not haven been who I am today. Photography would not have been so important for me if it was not for all those beautiful memories I get to look back at constantly. Which is why today I annoy my boys with tons videos and photos often, if not daily, & they are used to it, they were born into it. I want my boys to have memories of our family, to share with theirs one day, & to have something that will forever bring them joy.
Thats why I love photography & why its so important to me. Its a beautiful thing.
