We had the good fortune of connecting with Gavin “rock” Rocker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gavin “Rock”, what do you attribute your success to?
I would say consistency. I’m a firm believer in compound interest. Doing something right for an extended period of time will always yield positive dividends.

I’m a hard worker and attack every opportunity with the same passion as I did i the beginning of my career. That consistent work ethic is huge for me and continues to help me elevate in life.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have a rare combination of work. I’m a SAG-Aftea Union Actor and I’m a bodyguard. As an actor, I have to embrace my artistic side and my creative side to really express. You know different emotions and different ways. As a bodyguard, I have to be militant and maintain a height and level level awareness and every environment.

It’s a rare combination, but To being diverse as a person. Once I got out of college, I began my journey of becoming an actor in Atlanta. That was not an easy task at all. I had no experience and was taking on a brand new skill. So while trying to navigate the new path of becoming an actor, I also started working Security in the Atlanta nightlife Between my acting jobs

It was not easy. That time of my life consisted of many late nights and early mornings. At the time, I was so focused on becoming an actor, that I looked at Security as a side job. I never thought I would elevate insecurity the way that I did. But as I said before, everything I do, I do it to the best of my ability. So naturally when you have a good work ethic, you tend to elevate every area of your life.

Acting took off quicker for me though. I had early success with that, I did my first reality show in 2019 temptation Island. I had my first feature film in 2018 called Scott free. I also had many other opportunities that helped elevate me in the acting industry fairly quickly, and I’m grateful for that.

As far as Security goes, that didn’t really take off for me until 2020. I had a lot of security experience by that time, but I wasn’t seeing as any elite Bodyguard in Atlanta. But during that year and every year after I gradually began to have more and more success in the Security industry. Now, I am one of the elite bodyguards in Atlanta. I’ve worked with every major music artist in the industry. I actually just finished a world tour with Nicki Minaj, where I was the lead Bodyguard for her and her family. I’ve worked with the likes of Drake, Lil Baby, 50 Cent, Queen Naija, and many more..

But I credited my success two different fields quote, “How you do one thing is how you do everything.” I attacked both acting and the security industry with the same ambition. That is how I was able to elevate and become who I am now.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To be honest, I don’t really get out much. But I do like to eat so I would definitely take my friend to buttermilk kitchen for breakfast. To me that’s by far the best breakfast by Atlanta. As far as having a good time, A pretty familiar with all of the clubs and lounges in Atlanta. So I would just ask my friend what type of Five they’re looking for and we can go to any of those enjoy ourselves. That’s one of the perks of doing Security all over the city, I know the right place for every situation.
My favorite hobbies are martial arts and going to the gym. So me and my friend would definitely hit lifetime gym and get a good workout in. We will also enjoy the luxury submitted that come with the lifetime membership, if you’re not a member of lifetime gym at any location, I highly recommend that you join. It’s definitely worth the money.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m a former collegiate athlete. I played football most of my life so I want to shoutout all of the coaches who taught me how to work hard and do every task to the best of my abilities.

I also want to give credit to the books:

“The Way of The Superior Man” by David Deida

And

“The Autobiography of Malcolm X” by Alex Haley & Malcolm X

Those books changed my perspective of my life as a man in America.
