We had the good fortune of connecting with Felicia Lanier & Taundra Dunbar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Felicia Lanier &, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
About 3 years ago we came together with the thought of wanting to do something different. At the time of starting our business we both had small children and we would often get together and do activities with our kids. Our initial business idea sparked from our love of cooking, crafting and spending time with our children. We decided to start a line of coloring books that would allow families to read the story, color the pages and then make a recipe that is included within the story. It is intended to be a fun interactive way to spend quality time with family. We have since expanded our business to include garden kits that also promote family time and fun!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We have both been nurses for over 10 years. Although we enjoy our nursing careers we were at a point where we wanted to explore other opportunities. We started our business in 2018 and we’ve seen such growth over the last 3 years. Much of what we have learned in growing our business has been self-taught. It has never been easy and we continue to have day to day challenges. We believe that if we continue to push through the hurdles, we will learn along the way and only get better and hopefully more successful. We are looking forward to continued growth in the future as we continue to build our brand.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of our favorite spots is slim & huskies on Howell Mill Rd. The pizza and atmosphere/vibe are great. We would have to hit up a concert either at the Wolf Creek Amphitheater or Cadence Bank Amphitheater. Two Urban Licks, Local Green Atlanta and Harold’s are also great restaurants that would be on the list to check out. Of course since most of our friends have kids like we do, our family friendly stops would include the Atlanta Zoo, Aquarium and the Children’s Museum of Atlanta Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Felicia: I would like to shout out my husband Jamal, he has been and continues to be my biggest supporter. From the inception of this business, he has always pushed and challenged me to be better and do better and he has supported me in any and every way needed. So I shout him out and thank him for his continued love and encouragement on this journey. Taundra: I would dedicate my shout out to my daughter Kai. Becoming a mother has inspired me to become an all-around better person. Kai has pushed me to be better both professionally and personally. She is my drive.
