We had the good fortune of connecting with Farah Bryant Chantale Alunomoh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Farah Bryant, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
We believe that true success includes making a difference in your community. The most powerful difference you can make is the difference you make in the life of others. Sometimes when you sit back and think of the most effective thing you can do to build better habits is to join a culture. We see it as normal behavior to invest in relationships. Why would you not want to learn from others, develop good habits and try different business strategies? Some of your most powerful and most unforgettable moments will happen in the midst of failure and defeat. Some of your most amazing memories can be made day to day. Without hesitation, success in life also means developing the ability to be thankful and to find grace in less attractive times.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Bryant and Mathis Construction is currently located in Atlanta, Georgia and was established in early 2015 by Farah Bryant and Chantale Alunomoh. Our construction company is organized and led by women whose goal is to be the first billion-dollar double-minority-owned construction company in the Atlanta area. We started our business by coming up with an idea that we felt passionate about in the construction and remodeling industry and then us doing our research to find a niche that we could target. We also invested in some quality marketing tools and strategies to help get my business off the ground. So the lesson learned is just to do it, as long as you have passion and love for your business venture and know what is involved to ensure you are successful, that is the secret. We wanted independence in life, whether we like it or not, money brings independence. As a person, we learned that you do not need everyone to agree with you or even like you. We all want to belong, be liked, respected, and given respect, but not at the expense of our integrity and happiness. The lesson is that people cannot give you the validation you seek. That has to come from inside. Once things started to take off, we made sure to stay focused on our goals and keep things moving forward When we started to think about branding, we were all over the place with ideas. We had written notes on paper, whiteboards, and phone notes. We said let’s create 3 powerful words that we could work off of. These words are What, How, and Why. This is our The Rock Circle. Our Circle and the meanings: What – establish the product and services you are going to offer to your clients, How – what makes you different from others, and last is Why, the reason you are set on becoming an entrepreneur, and what makes you keep going. We say, TAKE THE PLUNGE!! If we did not step out on faith who knows where we would have been at today.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would start with breakfast at JR Christophers and then catch a Lyft at the Marta station. From there I would pray that we do not get lost and get on the right train to downtown Atlanta to go see all the amazing tourist attractions. We would for sure invest in the City Pass. This attraction pass is amazing you can see so many things for a discount. We would for sure start at the Coke Cola Factory and do the full-on tour. We would give ourselves at least 2 hours to explore the whole museum and taste all the flavors of the world. We would as well take time out with the polar bear and get our once and signature picture. Next, we would go to the Civil Rights Museum. It is so important to know where you came from. If you do not know where you came from or the history of your ancestors then you do not know where you are going. So, we would for sure spend about 2 hours here before heading to lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe. Here we would enjoy lunch and look at music artifacts. After we leave here would then head to the Georgia Aquarium and take a stroll around and look at the beautiful creatures of the sea. Here we would sit and talk in the different rooms while enjoying the view of the whales and other fish. We would round it off with a walk to the Auburn District to see the history of MLK and all of what he did for Americans. I am sure after all of this would skip the whole Marta riding experience and just take a Lyft straight back. We would then end the day with dinner at Cheesecake Factory. This seems to always be the go-to restaurant when my family and friends come to town. So, I would just add this to our dinner plans for the closing of the day.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Joint Statement from Farah and Chantale
We have to give thanks to our parents for always standing by us. We would not be where we are at today without them. Friendship and sisterhood are what have gotten Chantale and me so far in life. We read a few books that helped us with our journey but, the one that stood out the most was a book by Samuel R. Chand called ”New Thinking New Future.” All things are possible when you believe in yourself. We always say that everyone has a story. It’s up to you how your story chapters are written and how your story ends.
Statement from Chantale Alunomoh, CFO
I would as well like to thank my husband Innocent Alunomoh for always believing in me and standing by me. His love and support are one of the reasons I have made it this far. My kids Deaja, AJ and Michael. The hugs and kisses I get from them are priceless and I love them to pieces. My sister Michelle and bother-in-law Curtis you all are my rock as well. I love the example you all show CJ and Michaela of being strong and loving parents. Love you all as well. Last I want to thank my friends Farrah, Jarmaine, Preston, Olivia, and Vincent. You all are a big part of my life and love you all so much.
Statement from Farah Bryant, CEO
I would like to thank my family. My grandmother especially for loving me and raising me, my brother, whom I love so much, and my buddy /sister-friend & business partner Chantale. Without any of these people, I am not sure where I would be at today. God does not make mistakes and when he puts things together they are made to stand strong and not to be broken !
