We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Newman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erin, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
Success is such a loaded word, because you can be financially successful but emotionally bankrupt. Or vice versa.

So I speak about soul-sourced success: doing the work you love doing on the planet, and making an income that support the life you really want to live.

And I believe that you have to DECIDE that it’s possible for you to have both.

My first six figure year, I decided that it was possible for me to have a six figure year – without having a bigger following or more people on my email list – and then it just happened. Of course there was work involved, but probably not as much as most people think.

Instead, the “work” comes in the form of holding the energy of the decision – in believing that it’s possible for you, and then taking steps from the energy of “it’s already here for me” versus the energy of “I wish this would happen for me.”

Of course, hitting six figures (or any number) doesn’t equal success, though. You’ll still want to be continually tuning in to the messages of the self: does this light me up? Does this make me happy? Is this still what I want to be doing?

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
When I first started my coaching business 8 years ago, I was sure that I would feel successful when two things happened: I had my own office space and I was making six figures per year.

Well, spoiler alert – neither one of those things ever made me feel successful. I still felt like there was something more out there to chase or achieve.

So instead, I had to go back to the drawing board and figure out how to feel good about my business, even if it made no money or even if I never had a million dollar year. And that process of self-discovery and self-worth is an ongoing one that I believe most entrepreneurs are continually going through.

Because there will always be a new number to “hit”, or a new goal to achieve. As entrepreneurs, we have to actually remember that it’s truly about enjoying the journey as we’re on it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Would definitely want to walk down the Beltline and stop along the way, perhaps at Barcelona for tapas or Superica at Krog Street Market for Mexican food.

Would take them to either Mali in the Highlands or Tuk Tuk in Midtown for Thai food.

Egg Harbor in Buckhead for brunch.

Village Burger in Tucker for burgers.

And Kula Coffee at the bottom of Atlanta Tech Village for coffee and a chill vibe for chatting or getting work done.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Ohhhh how much space do we have? Tama Kieves for being the most amazing life coach ever. My friends here in Georgia, out in Colorado, England, Germany. All fellow travelers along this path of finding joy and meaning in our lives and businesses.
