We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Heavenly and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erin, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Like other people, I suffer from PTSD, depression, anxiety, and stress. I have often felt alone, sad, and hopeless. I have experienced things that have been very hard to talk about, or to find people that can relate to my story. There have been nights where I couldn’t even sleep, or find the motivation to accomplish my goals and dreams. With that being said, I did some research and decided to try aromatherapy to help me to cope with life, find peace along with mental clarity, and to help me to sleep at night. I like that aromatherapy uses natural plant extracts that heal your body physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Therefore, I decided to create essential oil blends, that would generate the feelings we as human beings need, such as self love, peace of mind, inspiration, and mental clarity. I wanted to create products that would help people who are going through what I am going through, or who just want to relax after a long day at work. I wanted to share with the world what has helped me to heal, and with the idea that my products would bring healing to everyone who used them.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love creating things, because it’s a way of self expression, and it’s a way to escape reality and focus on something other than my own thoughts and feelings. It brings me peace, and happiness when I am creating products. I am so excited to be able to make products that can help people, using natural ingredients, and herbal extracts. When I’m creating a product, I’m thinking about what people need. I do intensive research on what are the best ingredients that would produce the desired results I want to achieve. It fills my heart to hear the great feedback from those who have used my products, wondering how a body butter could make them feel so good, the uniqueness of my products, and how it has helped them. It gives me the motivation to keep going. Starting a business is not easy there are many challenges along the way, but when you receive great reviews, you also receive the inspiration to keep going. What I learned along the way is that life is a marathon it’s not a sprint, and nothing you want in life ever comes easy. I want people to know that no matter what they’re going through, and no matter what challenges they face in this lifetime that they can overcome them, and there will be better days. Positive thoughts can go a long way, we just have to believe in ourselves. I have overcome a lot in my life, and I will continue to overcome any obstacles that come my way.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were visiting the area for a week long trip, I would want to show her the best time ever. I would give her a warm welcome by bringing her to the Slutty Vegan for a Dancehall Queen burger, because she’ll probably be starving after her trip. Day two would be a lot more relaxing, with an afternoon trip to Atlanta Botanical Garden by Piedmont Park. We could stroll through the Canopy walk, and then go to the Cascades to see the waterfalls and Earth Goddess. For dinner we would go to Rock Steady, to feast on some crispy beef empanadas, tostones and sweet plantains, coconut passionfruit cheesecake for dessert, and a glass of guava lemonade. Day three would be adventurous with a trip to Six Flags Over Georgia, because we love the thrill of rollercoasters. Day four we could take a trip to Georgia Aquarium in the afternoon, because it’s an absolutely amazing experience. Day five we could go all out, and go to Fox Brothers BBQ for their Texas fries, BBQ ribs, and cornbread. Day six could be dedicated to going to the Trap Music Museum. We could spend the evening fulfilling our sweet tooth, at the Sugar Factory with some rainbow sliders, and a Miami Tropical Punch. The seventh and final day we could end the visit by going to Candytopia, so we can take some fun photos together, and get some candy samples. For dinner we can go to a nice Jamaican spot called Chef Rob’s Caribbean Café for some egg rolls, my favorite dish oxtail with rice and peas, and for dessert their red velvet cake.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would thank my family, and friends for their unconditional love and support. They have given me the motivation and encouragement to keep going.
