We had the good fortune of connecting with Erica Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erica, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
At the age of nine, I attended a “Take Your Child to Work Day” event with Girls, Inc. We ended up on the campus of Georgia Tech, where a therapist had a group of us in her office, explaining her day to day. I’ll never forget what happened in my soul when she explained that she was an entrepreneur and that she worked for herself. I knew from that moment that I wanted to become an entrepreneur. I just didn’t know what that process would be.

Over the course of my corporate career, I always held a side job or a side hustle. This helped me to learn the ins and outs of business and entrepreneurship without a lot of risk, Learning to leverage network marketing opportunities had a direct contribution to this as well. Once I had the basics down, I found myself with opportunities within the nonprofit sector which helped to round off my experience.

The foundation to the thought process has always been to remain open to learning and to be adaptable in these ever-changing times. Upon that is the need for my business endeavors to always help people and to treat them right. I pride myself on providing excellent customer service, no matter the capacity in which I work with someone.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Inner Beauty Reigns was founded as a blog in 2016 which focused on teaching women how to heal from the inside out. After becoming certified in Human Design in 2022, I decided to make it my primary modality in helping women to heal, evolve, and thrive through learning their identity. I focus on providing personalized coaching services that start with understanding your energetic blueprint so you can know how you were created to show up in this world. It’s like having your own personal road map to life. The services are tiered to accommodate learning styles, so whether you’d prefer to read about your human design, watch a recorded reading, or participate in a live reading, you have access to the information in the format that best suits you. For ongoing coaching, we use your human design details to create your Personal Development Plan. There are also workbooks and publications to help with mindset work as you embark on your human design journey.

The last eight years have been an incredible journey of learning the ins and out of the business of coaching, but even more incredible in the personal growth I’ve experienced. Embarking on this journey has required me to learn and experience the fullness of every masterclass or workshop I teach. It’s something I don’t take lightly because I know firsthand what it’s like to do this work, and truth is, sometimes it’s hard.

I’m most excited about the opportunity to take this modality into spaces where the information can influence others to build and maintain a better quality of life for themselves. Everyone has a purpose, and I like to see Human Design as sort of a cheat code to understanding your purpose. The biggest challenge thus far has been learning those lessons in order to be qualified to teach the internal work required to show up as the best version of yourself. It’s a continuous rebirthing process that I have come to understand as being a part of my own personal development path.

The biggest lesson out of this has been the importance of staying true to yourself. Years ago, my grandmother told me, “When you know what you know, stick to it. Don’t let nobody sell you wooden nickels.” Those words undergirded me until it was confirmed through my human design reading. As my mind traveled through a timeline of events throughout my life where I had ignored gut-feelings, I had a stark realization that everyone needs to know their own design. As a result, I launched services to provide a free “mini-reading” to anyone who requests it. This PDF report provides the foundational elements of your human design to help you along your journey. Learning this information not only boosts your confidence, but it allows you to more easily identify when you’re in or out of alignment by learning how to discern what is truly for you.

What sets me apart from other Human Design coaches is that I don’t just give you the information about your design and send you along. I provide a free, comprehensive workbook to help you to process what you’ve learned, as well as ongoing support through workshops, masterclasses, and a library of videos on various elements of personal development.

Although ladies are around 76% of my reach, the guys have been incredibly supportive as well. People should know that inner beauty isn’t exclusive to women. We all carry beauty or “light” within us in some way. You must shed the layers of projection and conditioning that dim that light, so that as you walk out your journey, you can lead the way for those with whom you are aligned. That’s how your inner beauty “reigns.”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m always down for an adventure, so we would have to get a City pass to check out some of the main attractions like the Georgia Aquarium as well as learn about the rich history of Atlanta through venues like The King Center. I love the art around the city as well, so although Atlanta traffic is nobody’s friend, it always allows the opportunity to see the artistic elements that are otherwise overlooked in various parts of town. And you can’t effectively have an adventure here if you don’t hike up one of the local mountains and go to Six Flags/White Water.

Thai food has been my favorite cuisine for the last few years, so we’d HAVE to stop by Tuk Tuk, Sweet Chili, and Red Elephant…and yes, all three because the food is that good! There are so many great restaurants here though, so there’s something for everyone, and I’ve really enjoyed seeing restaurants transition to providing more diversified options for those who have specific food preferences.

My absolute favorite thing about the city has to be the energy around town during football season. It’s simply unmatched. No matter what the Falcons’ record may be, fans are loyal, and the tailgating is going to happen, rain or shine! It’s a beautiful scene around the stadium during that time of year. We’d definitely have to tailgate and go to a game if it’s football season.

We’d end the week with a full day of self-care. Jeju is a Korean spa not too far outside the city, and has been one of my favorite places to get pampered. I can’t say enough about the experience…and the body shampoo is simply amazing. It’s more than worth the cost.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ll always honor organizations like Girls, Inc and Boys and Girls Clubs of America for the foundation of leadership I gained in participating throughout my childhood. I took my first flight because of the Keystone Club, and I’ve never been afraid of a microphone as a result of the many opportunities these organizations gave me to showcase my writing and speaking skills.

I would be remiss to not give a shout-out to my grandparents who raised me and required and supported my attendance at these organizations. Their love and support throughout my life has given me a foundation that includes a love for not just reaching people, but leaving them better than I found them. Through my Grandmother’s encouragement, I started writing as soon as I could hold a pencil, and I haven’t stopped since. Granddaddy never meets a stranger, and it was through his random conversations with the folks behind us in the grocery store line that sparked the importance of connecting with people.

Last but not least, I have to give a huge shout-out to my village. To those who encourage me and keep me going, to those who rally around and make sure my children are loved and supported as I navigate entrepreneurship, I can never say I built any of this by myself. I am not a one-woman show. There’s a beautiful tribe of people who are the foundation to this life-changing work.
