We had the good fortune of connecting with Elise Skipper & Becky Foushee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elise and Becky, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Among Daisies is excited to bring our community simple but purposeful home decor through locally sourced and sustainable dried flower bouquets and wreaths. While building our families and careers, we want to use our designs to bring hope, happiness, creativity, and the warmth of color to all women who can relate to us. We create and arrange all of our designs, binding them with recyclable and compostable materials. We strongly believe this benefits our environment and the homes our designs find.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What makes Among Daisies unique is our use of dried flowers in our arrangements instead of fresh flowers. We asked ourselves, “How can we enjoy floral wreaths and bouquets for a LONGER period of time while still using real flowers?” The answer? Dried flowers! Dried flower arrangements preserve the longevity of the flowers, while maintaining the integrity of their beauty. We want women to resonate with our vision of incorporating handmade, purposeful designs in their own spaces, and want them to choose designs that are a reflection of everything they love. Each design reminds us that there is a woman who needs a warm touch in her living room, her desk at the office, her bridal shower, her bedside table, her nursery; we want to celebrate the many spaces that women occupy. Although still confident in our vision, we had the learning curve of catering to the specific needs of our clients on Instagram. Our business began with dried flower wreaths, then quickly evolved into bouquets for homes, and then to restaurant foyers and dining rooms. We’re grateful for the chance to expand our expertise into other areas, even if that is different than what we originally had in mind. We’ve realized there is a market other than what we initially saw, and that keeps us curious which is important for a growing business!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta boasts the most beautiful restaurants and walking routes! I enjoy bringing my guests on very long walks on the Beltline, through Piedmont Park, and through the neighborhoods of Glenwood Park. A few miles in, I enjoy grabbing a latte at Daily Dose or Drip, while we decide where we will park ourselves for dinner. My absolute favorite restaurant is LylaLila, where a seasonal menu meets exceptional service and the greatest flavor combinations I could imagine. I can’t leave without several bites of the duck lasagna and a Monk’s Repose. Another place I love to bring my guests is Voga Italian Gelato or Revolution Donuts to satisfy that sweet tooth. Finally, when I want to impress my friends with the city view, St. Julep is the perfect ending to the day!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We’d like to dedicate this shoutout to Jeremy Ribando, who is the person behind Among Daisies. Jeremy has been friends with Elise for many years, and upon introducing her to his girlfriend Becky, he knew they would be fast friends. After only meeting once, and not even a year later, Elise and Becky launched Among Daisies. Thanks, Jeremy. We both love you so dearly.
