We had the good fortune of connecting with Eesa Chavis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eesa, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
My grandfather told me at 9 years old that “scared money don’t make no money” and it stuck ever since. Taking risks are uncomfortable, but so is growth. Had I not been the daring woman I am, I would have never left Delaware, would have NEVER started modeling, and absolutely wouldn’t have started a business. My life has been so full due to taking risks. If you want it bad enough, weigh the risks, make a plan, and execute. Simple.

Growing up, I watched America’s Next Top Model faithfully, caught up in the creative designs, avant-garde hairstyles and out-of-the-box make up styles the show had to offer. Every week, I saw them tearing down girls that looked like me but still, I was unfazed because I LOVE ME. As I grew up, I was always involved in something fashion-related but coming to college in the heart of Atlanta flipped a switch in me. I decided that regardless of “the norm”, I was going to showcase how beautiful my black skin was. Over the past few years, i have created meaningful and genuine connections with some of the most talented people I have met to date and that has made my introduction to the fashion scene in Atlanta very smooth. Don’t get it twisted though, any dream we have I gonna present obstacles and my situation is not any different. I thrive in the face of opposition though, it’s just something about someone telling me I can’t do something that makes me have to prove the wrong. The main takeaway I have for y’all is to be yourself 1000% of the time, be genuine in your connection, be willing to put the work in, let your spirit guide you and NEVER GIVE UP. I want the world to know that I am a renaissance woman. I have been given so many gifts and if I haven’t let anyone put me in a box yet, why would I do it to myself? So yeah, expect to see more of me but who knows what form that’ll take?
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh I love this! We would definitely be staying at The W Downtown so we could be locallllll for all the festivities. Let me go ahead and list out some restaurants since the foodie in me is jumping out. We would definitely have to visit Ray’s (in the city AND on the river), Steamhouse Lounge for the crab stuffed shrimp, Gyu Kaku for a sensory meat experience (term coined by yours truly), Taki Steakhouse for the hibachi vibes, Copeland’s for the pastas, NFA Burger for the best burger ever in life, and Tortugas Cuban Grill for a mojito that shifts paradigms. That was a lot 😂 I love Atlantic Station so we would definitely visit throughout the week, Ponce City Market is always a sight to see, and Rooftop L.O.A is for the grown and sexy vibes throughout the week. If we’re on a nature feel, we could go tubing down the Chattahoochee, glamping in North Georgia, or hiking the Roswell Mill also. In my experience, I have the best times at the most unexpected places and that’s what I love about Atlanta. There’s something to do for everyone, a quick Eventbrite search will surprise you.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to shout out my mom first and foremost. She taught me how to navigate life while being authentically me and I am forever indebted to her. All of my family had molded me in some way to become the woman I am and I’m grateful for them all. My bestie since coming to Georgia has been my rock, I wouldn’t have been able to make it through these uncharted waters if it wasn’t for her. She is a multi media goddess and really helped me dive into the creative side of Atlanta! @TaiTheArtist is one of the most important people I have ever met and motivates me everyday to be 1% better.
