We had the good fortune of connecting with Earl Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Earl, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Never being satisfied with what we are supposed to have. Understanding the work we put in as a business, the things wins that we know we deserve/earn while they are good it’s a “ok cool what’s next” mentality with us.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Co-owner of Southside Squeeze a mobile juice bar Black and Military owned by a team of family members and childhood friends. We wanted to start something that was different in our city we sat down at a library and decided this was the idea to run with. It was 5 years in the making. It has been difficult at times with funds but we have found a way. We won a “Shark Tank” type competition which helped put us a year ahead. We have learned throughout this journey to trust ourselves, everyone won’t be happy for you, and never let anyone devalue your business. We are Black men who enjoy working together the myth of working with family and friends is just that a myth. Understand that as long as you do good business you can never intimidate those opposite of you.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
You would want to grab a bite to eat at Bubby’s Chicken and Waffles, grab some clothes and shoes from the L.I.E. Store, get a nice run in out at the reservoir. Stop by Trends N Co as well. Get a massage from Two Hands Kneaded.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
