We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Pearl Lilly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Pearl, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The foundation of my success is God—always. He carried me through storms I never thought I would survive, from a little girl with big dreams to the woman I stand as today. Every step of my journey is a reminder to never forget where I started or how far I’ve come.

Becoming Dr. Pearl Lilly was never a solo journey. It was built on the love, prayers, and unwavering support of my family, friends, my parents Apostle Sharon K. Wright and Pastor Denise Watson, My Amazing Bishop Sonya Williams, First Lady, Pastor Tressa, and countless others who stood beside me without hesitation. And when the world said I wouldn’t make it—when doubt was louder than hope—I chose to keep going.

My strength comes from refusing to give up even when the storm tried to take me out!!!. I am living proof that faith, perseverance, and resilience can turn adversity into purpose and pain into power.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is both purpose-driven and intentional. What sets me apart is that my work is not created simply to be admired—it is created to make an impact. Every piece reflects discipline, resilience, and vision. I approach my art as both a calling and a business, understanding that excellence, consistency, and integrity matter just as much as creativity.

Professionally, my journey was anything but easy. There were obstacles, financial challenges, and moments when progress felt slow. I faced rejection and uncertainty, but I chose not to let setbacks define my future. Instead, I used them as motivation to sharpen my skills, strengthen my brand, and stay focused on long-term growth. Faith gave me direction, but hard work and persistence moved me forward.

One of the lessons I’ve learned is that success requires patience, preparation, and perseverance. You must be willing to invest in yourself, trust the process, and keep showing up even when recognition is delayed. I also learned the importance of knowing my worth, protecting my vision, and surrounding myself with people who support both my personal and professional growth.

What excites me most today is building a brand that stands for authenticity, excellence, and purpose. My work represents more than art—it represents a mindset: never quit, never compromise your values, and never underestimate what consistency can produce.

What I want the world to know about me is this: my story is proof that determination, faith, and strategy can coexist. I am not just creating art—I am building a legacy, opening doors for others, and showing that success is possible when passion meets perseverance.

💫 Why Atlanta?

Atlanta is a city of faith, creativity, resilience, and Black excellence. It’s where history meets hustle, where community matters, and where culture is always evolving. The people are bold, the stories are deep, and the energy is unmatched.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, my shoutout belongs to God. Without Him, none of this would be possible. He ordered my steps, carried me through trials, and placed the right people in my life at the exact moments I needed them.

To my children and grandchildren—you are gifts from God and the living reminders of His promises. You inspire me to walk in purpose, lead with faith, and leave a legacy rooted in love and obedience.

To my churches and faith community, thank you for covering me in prayer, speaking life into me, and standing with me through every season. Your spiritual support strengthened me when my own strength ran low.

To my family and friends, God used you as vessels of encouragement, love, and unwavering support. When I was tired, you prayed. When I doubted, you believed. When I succeeded, you rejoiced with me.

And to everyone God placed along my path—mentors, helpers, and silent intercessors—thank you for allowing Him to work through you. This journey is a testimony of what happens when faith leads and love follows.
