We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominique Steward and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dominique, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process was actually pretty simple. I am passionate about music and already knew I would have a career in it some way, some how. I had been recording people on the side and buying equipment long before I knew I would start a studio. One night I was laying in bed thinking about whether my passion was a hobby or a realistic goal and how would I get people to take it seriously. The very next day I took a leap faith, quit my job and went full time.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am the owner and operator of G.O.T. Sounds Studio. This profession is still an art. What separates me from the rest is the creativity I’m willing to invest. I believe that my studio is a unique creative space. I was able to work along side some amazing people, music professionals and business owners. I think the most important lesson I’ve learned was that failure is apart of success. I’ve lost a lot but I’ve never let it force me to give up. I believe anything you do has some level of risk. Why not take the risk for the reward you actually want? I want the world to know that my brand offers more than music. It offers knowledge, creativity, inspiration…etc. I want you and your work to leave us better than you came to us.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is actually a long list of people that Id like to dedicate this to but to be brief, I’ll say shout out firstly to my family. They’ve witnessed me from 6 to now with the same goals and dream and has always been supportive. Then Id like to shed light on my team. Dj Lonzo, Muff, J Benzo and Mike. They help the studio function and we push each other to be better. Lastly, just as important my friends that I treat like family. The list is long but they know who they are.
