We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominia Glaspy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dominia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Dominia Travels Globally (DTG) is a travel business which specializes in tour packages primarily for trips to African countries or to international prides for LGBTQ clients. My primary focus is Affordable Travel!! You can work a 9-5 and still afford travel. Most companies focus on luxury traveling to yield higher profits. Since the US dollar multiplies the currency of most countries you can actually travel quite affordably if you go outside of US based tourism places that’s where we come in. One of my focuses is to get African Americans to focus their international travel, going to countries in Africa. The reasons I’m focusing on traveling specifically to African countries are; 1.) to reconnect to our culture and roots, 2.) to use travel dollars to build the economies in Africa, so that they can become self sufficient 3.) to help with other issues involving other countries that take resources, land, labor, and doesn’t help with the economic advancement of the country it’s taking its resources from, 4.) to allow African Americans to tap into international real estate, we can buy land and create business and further impact the development of these African countries. My other focus is on the niche market of LGBTQ Pride group travel events. Creating the experience of Pride with different cultures in different countries at affordable prices.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets Dominia Travels Globally apart from other travel agencies is the fact that we are focused on traveling with the mission of cultural learning and experience in the forefront. For example, if you travel to Mexico and stay at a US based hotel/resort they will charge US based prices and most people remain within the resorts. If you instead go to a luxury hotel that the locals go to you get the locals price with the luxury experience and it’s way cheaper which saves more money. It takes more time and research but it makes the trips more affordable and more ingrained into the local culture versus the luxury hotel and resort experience. The biggest setback for travel business is just about everything. The economy, international travel safety, travel bans, COVID and health crises, the list goes on. Ironically people still travel everyday. I would love to be the first black Cruise Line owner and create work life balance initiative packages for employers to offer their employees. Similar to FSA’s an employer can allow their employees to select a PTO allotted vacation package and the cost is paid upfront for the trip and bookings while it comes out of their paycheck every pay period so people can look forward to major travel experiences for them and their families for a healthy work life balance.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For breakfast we would have to hit up Gocha’s Breakfast Bar!! Then for lunch or dinner the New Orleans Daiquiri Bar & Grill is such a vibe!!! Hitting up Slutty Vegans is a MUST!!! Outside of food I would take her to my favorite place Rosewell Waterfalls for a nice hike. We would go to The Battery Atlanta to take pictures, Atlantic Station for shopping and maybe for a comedy show or grown and sexy vibe hit up Monticello ATL

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My best friend Karen Dancy has always been a pillar in my life!! Definitely want to shoutout her amazing business Karing Hands!!! Leaving nothing but clean spaces and happy faces!!!

As an LGBTQ model, I take great pride in serving as a presence within the fashion and modeling industry. The Stud Model Project (SMP) conceived by Teresa Morcho, established a platform that empowers LGBTQ women and transgender individuals to enter the modeling field. SMP provides invaluable support to aspiring models, equipping them with knowledge, experience, techniques, and connections needed to thrive in the fashion and modeling industry. Big shoutout to Teresa Morcho and the Stud Model Project

Would also love to shoutout Royal Chic Industries, Furst Luxury Picnics, and Kitty Couture Kandles
