We had the good fortune of connecting with Dom Kegel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dom, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
‘Necessity is the mother of invention’, right? As a stunt performer I’ve not been able to work since June. So, in some ways Full Send Golf Carts is me trying to stay busy and do something productive. AKA…not lose my mind.

In regards to the market of Golf Carts and the ‘why that?’, I think it’s a response to the exorbitant costs of that particular amenity in our area of Peachtree City. When we first moved to this area I was shocked at how much a new, lithium golf cart costs at the several dealerships. Now, my background is mainly in the creative fields and film/TV action, but I’ve been a hobbyist motorcycle mechanic for almost 20 years. I’ve re-built classic cafe racers and smaller engines. Then a number of years ago I built a camper van from scratch and last year built out a mobile office/studio from a cargo trailer, all using solar power and lithium systems. Hence, the solar panels on my golf carts.

All that to say the process hasn’t been fluid, it’s been me just shooting from the hip and keeping an excitement about what I want to create. And if I can get people a kick ass cart for less than one of these dealerships along the way, its perfect.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started my professional life as a football player. After playing in college and a few subsequent, unsuccessful NFL workouts I ended up overseas in Europe playing for a few seasons. When I hung up the cleats I took a job as a video editor and shooter for a small media agency in the Chicago area. One day we had a contract for a music video and the label wanted some intense action/fight sequences and once my boss (the director) saw the breakdown he pointed to me and said, “you’re gonna do it”.

It was the most fun I’d ever had.

I came home and told my wife, “I don’t know about this stunt stuff, but I’ve gotta learn more and I NEED to do this”.

Fast forward 12 years and I’ve stunt doubled Stephen Amell (Arrow), Patrick Flueger (Chicago PD) among others and had the privilege to work in the film industry providing for my family.

I’ve always felt a rift between the worlds of physical performance/sport and art, but stunts gave me the opportunity to live in both worlds.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would visit Trilith in Fayetteville. It’s a studio neighborhood and has lots of restaurants, bars, shops, outdoor areas, etc.
Kids, adults, dogs, and everything in between. I honestly would not even leave the neighborhood.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to shout out a huge ‘thank you’ to my friends. Sam, Dr. Gordon, Eric, Nov, Zane, and of course my wife and son. They’ve all helped me build out ideas, shoot down ideas, keep me in reality but also breathe a little fire on what I want in life. I love them all.
