We had the good fortune of connecting with DM Woods and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DM, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
My favorite quote by far is “The Wage” by Jessie B. Rittenhouse. I first heard it in Think and Grow Rich. It’s a quote when I first heard it, it moved me. But after doing Tony Robbins’ Unleash The Power Within, before I left the hotel room it kept echoing in my spirit. I could only remember a few lines, “I worked for a menial’s hire, Only to learn, dismayed, That any wage I would have asked of life, life would have gladly paid.” What you have to understand is like most people, I had embraced limiting beliefs and chose to settle for the minimum. I resented those that flew and soared around me because I wanted to but was not. It wasn’t until I realized that, I didn’t value myself enough. I realized I didn’t want to commit to doing the work. But, I learned when you commit to raising the price of your life that standard changes your environment and influence.

The Wage
I bargained with Life for a penny,
And Life would pay no more,
However, I begged at evening
When I counted my scanty store;
For Life is a just employer,
He gives you what you ask,
But once you have set the wages,
Why, you must bear the task.
I worked for a menial’s hire,
Only to learn, dismayed,
That any wage I had asked of Life,
Life would have paid.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a huge lover of the outdoors and everything Georgia has to offer! If you want to bundle up in the fall and winter or get some exercise in the spring and summer, I recommend some of these amazing hikes with a good friend.

Cloudland Canyon:
I love Cloudland and it’s one of my top locations that give you an opportunity to dive into Lookout Mountain located in northwest Georgia. This canyon offers some dope hiking trails. What I like about this hike are the two trail options you can take. There are actually three waterfalls deep within the canyon.

Providence Canyon:
I appreciate Providence because it is so colorful. The canyon shows you how beauty can come from failure. There are some cool vibrantly colored cutouts and points that are a host to little treasures. The dope part is the area is ever-changing so I can look different year over year. The canyon has actually been called the ‘Little Grand Canyon’ of the south.

Tallulah Gorge:
This is another canyon that I love! The gorge has a host of trails and you can pick your level of intensity. It also hosts the sliding rock attraction that is very dope but was impacted by COVID. This is probably one of the more popular sites of all the Georgia canyons and also host a pretty cool suspension bridge which is a must to rock : )

Brasstown Bald:
I cant take you low without taking you to the highest point in Georgia. You have to check out Brasstown Bald, the sights are absolutely breathtaking. This is probably the easiest “hike” if you show up in time for the shuttle to bring you up and down. If not, you will have a short but steep climb from the parking lot to the summit. Make sure to bring a good camera!

I love hikes as a way of getting to know someone because you always get some quality time and solid conversation with your best friend or even a 3rd+ Date.
