We had the good fortune of connecting with Dhemari Jernigan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dhemari, what do you want your legacy to be?
That’s a good question. For me I always tell people it’s never been about me I’m trying to help some people. Growing up I always see that kid get joked on that never had it as good as the next and I never like seeing that. I made it pretty clear through my whole life and said to myself whenever I get the chance to help somebody or can give information to better somebody I will do it. I guess I just want to be remember as a good person that had great energy and was fun to be around and always was finding a way to help out or put people in the right spot. I lost a lot of friends and family grown up and the two that meant the most to me growing up my grandma and grandpa. They always told me make something out myself and that I was smart and could do and be whatever I want to be, so I’m just trying to make them proud of me. My Mom tells me the same and my dad so I keep a smile on my face and wake up and be the best person I can be.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Well photography is just something that’s forever growing and changing. I’ve met so many photographers in the Atlanta area alone and not one person has the same style or look as another. With my photos I try to make it look as real as possible and clean as possible even when you zoom in you don’t lose clarity. I guess its just how I like my work to look and it has work for me most part, some people don’t like it, but not everybody will like what you do and how you do it. I got to where I am today because I’am a people person and just always striking random conversations with people. I always like to talk to people and hear about what they do and learn different things. I cant say it wasn’t easy but I learn very quick i was determined to learn to be the best or in same conversation. I’ve learned that photography is very expensive(lol) understatement, when you pay for a shoot you are paying for that person skill set and not just a picture. I’ve also learned to edit same day, because when you have shoots back to back you never want to get backed up with work its really annoying. What I want the world to know about my brand is that I listen and I am very detailed and creative, my style and way of editing is very clean. I’m a Pisces so you just never know what to expect my head is always wondering trying to be different and be the best.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There is so much to do that there is nothing to do in Atlanta very hard to make your mind up on what you wanna do (lol). The list is very long we can start off with Piedmont park, Stone Mountain park, Centennial Olympic park to get nice view of the city and the belt line. I always take a scooter to ride though it. Breakfast I love going to Atlanta Breakfast club , Another Broken Egg, Negril Village , to me everything is awesome (lol). Lunch and dinner spots pick one Its Atlanta the south is known for food and their soul food. I love Grand Lux Cafe, Bahama Breeze, Southern Gentleman, Rays on the River or city, Fogo and etc I’m not a fancy eater there is more to it then what I am telling you. Also Little Black Supper Club creates a unique fine dinning experience with culinary and beverage experts. food and desserts are off the charts mind blowing gotta check it out. Six flags over Georgia , White Waters, skydiving, Georgia Aquarium, World of Coke, Trap museum , and list goes on. Night life the city comes to life everywhere from Lounges to clubs to bars take your pick. Oak Atlanta, Opium, Magic City, Gold Room, MjQ, Compound the list is very long . The funny thing is I like to stay home and chill or go to the studio I don’t really club , but I’ll hit up a bar or lounge

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Man listen(lol), The list is forever going. Elan Brooks at Sentry Studios he has been like my ace since I first start doing photography he taught me everything i know next to looking up videos on YouTube(lol). I think if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t be as knowledgeable as I am about photography, studio lighting, videos, editing , just everything still learning new things to this day. So I’am forever grateful for meeting him and really appreciate him taking the time out to help me and teach me. Also to everybody that has ever taken a picture with me and booked me I really mean that I’m thankful and really appreciate it. Not only did they believe in me you know, they took a chance with me and thought I could get the job done so Shoutout to them. Oh cant forget my boy Greg, and Ahmeer(lovedown) awesome friend just all around great person , introduce me to a lot of people and Greg(WavyBone) help me with a lot with videos and photography just more then I can count always encouraging me to do better.
