We had the good fortune of connecting with Denai Tenkara and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Denai, how do you think about risk?
I Think That Risk Is Necessary For Any Type Of Success.
Taking Risk Has Played A Huge Role In My Life. When It Comes To Music I’ve Had To Take Risk By Saving Money And Putting It Toward The Dream So To Speak. I’ve Also Exercised Taking Risk By Submitting Music To Tastemakers And Curators In The Music Industry. Another Example Would Be Reaching Out To Producers And Other Artists About Collaboration. Not Everyone Is Gonna Like You Or What You Do, Sometimes You’ve Just Gotta Take Risk And Put Yourself Out There To Find Who’s Interested In You.
“No Risk, No Reward” .
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’d Say My Character And Overall Persona Sets Me Apart From Other Artists/Creatives. I’ve Lost Many People In My Life, So I Guess It’s Safe To Say That Life Has Kicked My Ass A Little Bit But Despite It All I Keep It Pushing.
I’m Most Excited About The What The Future Holds & What The Present Moment Has To Offer. Opportunities Are Everywhere, Especially In A City Like Atlanta. Fortune Favors The Bold, So I Plan On Taking Advantage.
I Got To Where I Am Today By Continuing To Push Through The Pain That Comes W/ Being An Artist/Creative. No Its Not Easy, It Never Is, But Is Anything Worth Achieving Ever Easy..? I Overcame The Obstacles By Believing In Myself More Than Anything Else.
The Most Important Lesson I’ve Learned Over The Years Is This: “Watch Your Back & Know Who Your Friends Are.”
I Want The World To Know That Denai Tenkara (The 1MANBAND) Is An Underground Artist Looking To Make A Hardcore Statement W/ His Music, Clothing, & Character.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Savage Pizza Is Definitely 1 Of The Best Food Spots In ATL If You Ask Me, So I’d Probably Take Them There 1st. I’d Also Take Them To Revery VR Bar, Closette, & Lil 5 Points.
I’d Probably Take Them To Some Underground Shows Going On That Weekend, Just To Network And Be Active In The Scene. I’d Also Take Them To Old Fourth Ward Skatepark Since It Has Rich History & Is A Solid Hangout Spot For Atlanta Creatives.
Atlanta Is A City Full Of Surprises. I Usually Like To Explore The City And Find Abandoned Buildings/Warehouses For Content Creation. Whether Thats Taking A Few Pictures To Capture The Aesthetic, Or Filming Music Videos, Either Way Something Has To Get Accomplished.
It Cant Be “All For Nothing” Because Moments Only Last For The MOMENT.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d Like To Dedicate This Shoutout To The Small Circle Of People That Continue To Support Me, Day In & Day Out.
