We had the good fortune of connecting with Deloria Gilchrist and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Deloria, what’s the most important think you’ve done for your children?
The most important thing I have done as a parent is always maintaining a positive energy. Yes, there are days when the energy is not so positive, but my children feelings are very important to me. I am always talking to them about how to solve issues, never stop learning, maintaining healthy and happy relationships and never judge anyone. Most importantly, we always talk about being in control of their own destiny.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
In a world of revolving brands, our mission is to implement PR efforts tailored specifically to your needs. We believe in transparency, outstanding services and exceeding your expectations. DeloriaG Public Relations specialize in Reputation Management, Brand Activation, Media Relations, Event Management and Website development. What sets us apart from others is our flexibility. Also, we leverage our contacts in the industry to collaborate to make sure each client has a successful outcome. Success to me is the happiness of my clients. If they are happy, then I know I am doing my job. I started out by reaching out to people I knew who may have been working on a project or an event and volunteered to help. This way, I am getting experience, showcasing my expertise and meeting potential clients along the way. This may not work for everyone, but it has worked for me. I am all about collaboration. Great opportunities have come out of collaborating for me. The struggle I see is people want a Publicist but truly do not understand our roles. The job of a Publicist is to increase exposure and managing a clients reputation. We are also responsible for managing your interviews, press conferences, and managing crisis. We are not personal assistants or booking agents. It’s a partnership. Also PR is a marathon and does not happen overnight.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a best friend to come to Atlanta, we would have an awesome time. We would not only visits the hotspots, but hidden gems as well. We would visit Ponce City Market for eating and shopping. Rooftops are my favorite when the weather is nice. One of my favorite is the Glenn Hotel. I love the Edgewood district and East Atlanta, so we would hit up some of the local restaurants and catch some live music.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My success would not be possible without God. He has never left my side and I am so grateful for his guidance. My prayers continues to be answered and everything is always within his timing. I am grateful for the patience that I’ve learned and for the wonderful people he has put in my life to help me along this journey.
