We had the good fortune of connecting with Dawn R Dawson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dawn R, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind starting my own business is as simple as I always felt that I was destine for something greater. I like to make what seems impossible so very possible. I would sort of consider myself a triple threat due to accomplishing and creating three different businesses.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My company is Grub for Dogs. It is a pet food supply company. I formulated a pet food product by using human grade ingredients which is considered to be healthier for dogs.

I saw commercials & ads similar to the product that I offered but however I was not aware of any companies that were in Georgia. So ready, set, go; I set a goal to create my company. I did my research, made my contacts, and the rest is history.

To be perfectly honest I reported to a job daily that was very unsatisfying at a call center & I dreamed of having and wanting more. I was very appreciative for having the job but knew I was destine for more. I already had my hand in two other businesses. However, while I live a comfortable life operating the two businesses I also know that you have to wear different hats to make it in this world these days.

When I started Grub for Dogs I was encountered by obstacles due to creating this business during Covid 2020. I researched the ingredients that were to be formulated for the dog food. I took the necessary steps in order to make my product available to the public. I had to get my product lab tested and licensed with different companies also with the state due to regulations. The process was a long drawn out process due to the shut down because of Covid. But I made it happen!! I was so proud of my accomplishment and still am.

I think I am one of the most humble people that you will ever meet. I am very grateful for very dollar that I make whether a person spends a dollar or several dollars cause that is a dollar(s) they could have spent somewhere else but yet spent it with me. I am very appreciative.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spots of the city to take a visiting friend to would be of course to some of the best restaurants in Atlanta, I would invite them to a home cooked meal by yours truly, and a few nights out on the town which would include a few bars in the Buckhead area, some of the local parks, and to appeal to our youthful side straight to Six Flags, White Waters, or to a Braves games.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am very appreciative & I would like to thank Shoutout Atlanta for the article and recognition of my company. Thanks so much for the exposure!
