Meet Darynn Blackmon: Entrepreneur & Influencer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Darynn Blackmon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Darynn, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When creating my business, I wanted to create products for people like myself who’ve had insufficient results with commercialized skin care products. I had my mind set on curating everything myself and using my own experiences as the basis of the brand.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is striving to stay in my own lane, my vision, always thinking outside of the box. I’ve always been different and did my own thing and I want to always be that way. I’m most proud of myself and how far I’ve come in my personal and professional life. In the beginning, I had my doubts about starting a business. I’m glad that I put my best foot forward and took that risk. I got where I am today by staying true to myself and always seeing the bigger picture. It hasn’t been easy, by far, but it’s definitely been rewarding. I overcame challenges thrown my way by looking at everything from a business standpoint and taking them as lessons. I’ve made mistakes as a businessman and I’ve learned from them. Now, I’m not afraid to make mistakes. Some lessons that I’ve learned along the way are putting myself out there, fighting for what I believe in, and taking risks. I want people to use my story as a stepping stool,. I want them to be encouraged and to know that you can do anything you set your mind to. I want the world to know that SKYNN by Darynn on its way to the top and that Darynn will be a household name!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, I’m from the Lowcountry. Born and raised on Lady’s Island in Beaufort, South Carolina. With that being said, the beach is always a go-to. We would have to take a trip around the Lowcountry visiting different places. The Waterfront Park is a great hang out spot. We can take a boat ride out on the river. A trip to Tanger Outlets for some shopping is one of my favorites. A walk down Bay Street is always fun. And as always, seafood is a must. We have to go to my favorite seafood restaurant, Hook ‘n Reel. And you can’t leave without a little Gullah cuisine.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother, grandparents, alma mater South Carolina State University, close friends and supporters/customers.
