We had the good fortune of connecting with D’ True You Design Studio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi D’ True You, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Hey! The idea of my business was built over the years. It was a collection of ideas that I’ve had since a child. From how I’d dress to what I’d offer that was different from everyone else.

When it came time for me to actually name and register my business, that was tricky. I knew it had to be different and catchy! It had to represent myself, clients and what I truly believed in which is embracing yourself.
Embracing your flaws and all! Not trying to look or be like anyone else!

So it was born D’ True You Design Studio. With the motto Be Bold Be True Be You! A place where you can be yourself and treated like the King/Queen you are! And we design more than just your hair! We design custom clothing for men and women as well.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
D’ True You Design Studio is different from any other salon because we’re not jut looking for customers. We specialize in a feeling, a feeling of confidence, control and acceptance!

We provide one on one services that allows our clients the privacy to let loose and talk about it without any pressure or other clients staring or watching their watches!

That’s one thing that I learned, no one like to be rushed and people need time to discuss and pin point exactly what they feel insecure about. So that’s what we give. Quality time and a boost of confidence!

We’re shooting to make DTY a franchise in the future. The whole world needs to feel good about themselves and having a DTY salon in every state will help spread that feeling.

It’s been a lot of work and still have a ways to go but when you’re dedicated to something that’ll change people lives and perspective it’s well worth the fight!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I don’t get out much and need to work on that but Omg The Atlanta Breakfast Club! Great food great service and its in downtown Atlanta where there’s so much to do! They usually have a mimosa stand right outside the door and they are delish! I also love to look over the city at night so whenever I can find a rooftop, I’m there!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to shout out Mrs. Betty Freeman. She was my instructor at Empire Beauty School Northlake, a mentor and like a auntie who’s always on you making sure you understand the business. She helped not only open the door to my business, but to the world of movies! Because she believed in me, I received my first 5 IMDb credits as an hairstylist, MUA and an actress while I was in school! She taught me all the business aspects of being an salon owner and the importance of persistence and patience. Im now an accredited tv/film hairstylist and my business is becoming known throughout Atlanta. Thank you Mrs. Freeman, you’re the real Goat!
